Hello everyone I'm new here. I've got 3 Labradors - yellow Barney, who is just over 5 years old, black Shelby who is just over 2 years old & Shelby's daughter who is only 11 weeks old. Barney is our first lab, our little son - we didn't know much when we were getting him so he comes from really bad breeder who didn't care about health tests so Barney pays for that: he has dysplastic elbows & hips but we love him as he is & we're doing our best to make his life as happy as possible. Barney gave us a good lesson so when we decided we want a companion for him we did our lesson & we got Shelby from a reputable breeder. She's healthy, good looking show star that we decided to breed. She had a litter of 6 lovely puppies in January & Ellie is the one we decided to keep from that lovely bunch
Re: Hello Hi there, We're also dealing with hip and elbow dysplacia with our 14 month old chocolate lab Monty, going through the trial and tribulations of xrays, more x rays, scans and orthpaedic consultations.. but great that you've got other younger labs too - I'm interested to hear about this as we wanted a 2nd dog but our vet has kind of warned us off another pup as he said it would just be a bit too boisterous for Monty - I'd be really interested to hear how you've found having 3 dogs when one of them had joint issues (and I'm guessing restricted exercise a bit?)
Re: Hello Welcome to the forum. I have a 9 month old chocolate girl who has dysplasia in her right elbow (so grateful that it is only one elbow) so like Natalie and Monty we have been going through x-rays, scans and an operation and now on rest. Look forward to seeing some photos of your trio.
Re: Hello Hi there and welcome from me too. I hope you don't mind me moving this to the introduction section. I have Lilly with bilateral hip dysplasia who is almost 5. We got here from a newspaper ad and knew nothing about testing then. She has a fabulous calm manner. Unless there is wildlife to chase. Her hips don't hinder her a bit in this respect. Hope you can check out the technical and help section so we can see a photo of your merry troop. Jac.
Re: Hello Hello and welcome! Sounds like a lovely labby family you have. Hope we can see some photo soon
Re: Hello Welcome to you and your group. We are Hattie 7 years and our rescue boy Charlie 4 years. Enjoy the forum. Helen x
Re: Hello Thank you all for a warm welcome Our vet told us to be careful with adding another dog unless we are sure we can manage Barney's exercise levels. We decided we are able to do that & it works great. Barney loves his little sister. We usually walk them together but Shelby gets an extra walk in the evening. They are playing a lot but both are well trained so when they are told to stop they just go for rest. I think that getting Shelby was a good idea and Barney's life is happier since she is with us.
Re: Hello Wonderful photos. Lovely dogs and oh so cute puppies. I love the one with the two in the water both holding the dummy
