Hello to everyone, recently got our yellow lab boy, Bruin is 14weeks old, I was thinking he was small as we are used to big dogs, we also have Murphy an 8yr old Harli Great Dane! Browsing on here though I think maybe I'm mistaken, Bruin at 14 wks is 14.4k/31.74lbs! Mum & Dad are working labs. We feed raw and had intended to keep Bruin on kibble initially but he decided otherwise on day 2! He's settled in very well, had my first undisturbed sleep last night and toilet training going well so all good and very pleased. Once I figure out how to upload a photo I will.
Hello and welcome to you and Bruin (and, of course, Murphy, we're not breedist here ) from me and my year-old twins, Willow and Shadow. To upload pictures, you need to use a site like Photobucket, Flickr or Imgur and then paste the "BBCode" in here - it looks like [ IMG].....[/IMG] He's definitely not the smallest pup here; at 15 weeks, Willow was 10.9kg and Shadow was a teeny 8.8kg! Hope to see your boys soon
Hello and welcome. Your perception of big will be all wonky !! My lab Meg from working stock and she is fully grown now and is 30kg. I think she is tiny. Everyone at dog classes used to go on how big she was, and she was always the biggest lab there. However she lives with a 50kg Malamute and previously we had 3 Newfies. He will always be small in your eyes when used to a Dane. The size/weight variety for labs is massive so as long as your vet is happy that's ok. Can we have a pic of your Dane please, I would loved to have had a Harli one . Best wishes Emma, Meg and Jasper
Ha ha yes after Great Danes and the Horses Bruin initially seemed small. Not sure if the link to the pic of Bruin worked? Tried Flickr but link obviously not correct link to enable me to post pictures. Not sure if thats because I'm posting from a mobile? I think our vet may get a shock when he goes for his second vaccination this saturday he was 12.4 kilos at his first and I suspect he will be maybe just over 15kilos by then! He's not too porky he was looking quite leggy, he just keeps growing overnight it seems.
Welcome from me and Lilly. He looks like a lovely boy. I DO love great Danes, they are so gentle (if a bit drooly ) Love seeing other dogs on the forum, And horses too! jac
