Re: Hello I couldn't say definitely Teena Ann without seeing the bag.the 2 brands of food that I have fed Dexter both stated the total amount for the day and that is to be spread over the number of meals you serve.so from my knowledge of that I would say if you are happy that 175g is the correct amount then divide that between the meals (4) you give him.....but what have you been doing up to now?
Re: Hello It's hard for me to say if he looks thin in the position he is sitting.if you get one of him standing up it might be easier, has someone told you he looks thin?x
Re: Hello Teena Ann does the packet have a table on it? Is there is a row at the top showing different dogs, it might be the lower amount is for a small breed of dog, and the higher amount for a big breed of dog. Have another look. On pedigree puppy vital dry food, for example, the kg row at the top is Adult weight. So if cooper will be 30kgs when he is grown, and he is 2 months now - left hand column - you should feed 265, divided into 4 meals - right hand column. It depends on the exact type though! You might not have puppy vital!
Re: Hello Teena Ann,in my opinion this is the wrong food as its looks like its for small breeds....and a labrador isn't a small breed.Im not familiar with the pedigree chum brand but if you check they will do a bag that is suitable for Cooper. Is there a good choice of food available for you where you live? I've also sent you a PM( personal message ) which might help you with understanding some of Coopers behavior,it was an article I found while I was doing some reading.
Re: Hello Angela's right Teena , that food is for small breeds - you need to see if you can find puppy food for medium/large breeds. How much does Cooper weigh?
Re: Hello Oh my wat to do now Ofcourse pedigree for large breeds is available wat to do wid this feed now I cannot waste it can u tell me hw of this should I feed since I have already got it Cooper weighs 5.1 kg is this k or hw much should he weigh now
Re: Hello I know you have had the expense of buying that food but he needs the correct type to give him the correct nutrients to keep him growing properly and keep him healthy.I had to do the same Teena Ann but for different reasons.Dexters tummy was getting too upset with a food I had him him on so I donated it to a Dog Shelter and bought the correct one.Another solutions could be ,do you have any friends with a small dog that could buy this food from you and them you can put that money towards the correct one for Cooper?you need to get his diet right so he can feel good and healthy,it's very important. You won't make the progress you need with his training and behaviour if he isn't getting the right food. I cant assure you about his weight as all dogs are different even though they are all labradors and Dexter wasn't with us when he was Coppers age.He came to us at 5 months and he weighed 12.5 kgs,I thought he looked a little skinny but he soon put in weight and I monitor his weight very carefully just bylooking at how he looks.
Re: Hello Angela's suggestions are good ones, but if you really have no choice but to use this food up, before you can get more, I would use the highest adult weight of 25kgs - so that's the higher amount - and divide it into 4 meals. Just my view of course!
Re: Hello According to d pack d adult weight is 25kg nd at 3 months d feeding requirement is 175 to 425 gms so which one should I divide 175 or 425 I have to use this food as I have no choice pls help I'm worried nd hw much should Cooper weigh at this stage
Re: Hello The 175g is for adult weight of 10kgs, 425 for adult weight of 25kgs. So use the higher amount, depending on how heavy Cooper will be when he is grown (this usn't dependent on how much you feed him). Try to get him the right food as soon as you can - larger dogs have different requirements as puppies, and need different food.
Re: Hello Thanks Julie tat really helped Cooper weighs 5.1 kg approximately 11.5 pounds is this normal
Re: Hello Lots of different Labradors weigh different amounts at different times - Charlie, my boy, is a very heavily built dog, and he weighed much more than Cooper does at 3 months. At 4.5 months, he weighed nearly 20kgs. But Angela says Dexter weighed 12.5kg at 5 months - much less than Charlie. So it's not possible to say what's right from just knowing the weight. If you are really worried, ask your vet.
Re: Hello I agree Teena, if you need to then use up the food you have now and next time buy puppy food for large or medium breed dogs. Cooper looks fine to me in the latest photos - not too fat and not too thin. And he looks MUCH better than in the first photos you sent. His coat looks nice and shiny. So you are doing well with his food and general care, I think. Don't forget about the second lot of worming medication you will need to get from the vet!
Re: Hello I think he looks just right He is looking very good. His coat has improved a great deal. And he's really cute!
