I'm Kelly. I have a 7 month old lab/staffordshire terrier mix and she's named Olive. She was taken from her mom at 6 weeks and her littermates were taken at 5 weeks. Obviously this is much too soon and her bite inhibition and basic overall puppy manners have suffered. She is very much a velcro puppy. Even if people are at home, she waits for me and only me. I'm here because we haven't been able to afford training just yet and since she still gets very car sick and the nearest trainer is 45 minutes away and the at home trainers are very expensive, we've been winging it with what I have learned. I'm a stay at home mom with the kiddos in school, so aside from housework and homework (I take online classes), she's my sidekick all day long. We live near some state parks and they're very close so we do try to get out and see outside of our small neighborhood while the weather is nice. I'm here because we need some advice til we can get the trainer to come to the house. So far, I have tried facebook puppy groups and have been told terrible things about how she's not the right dog for our family, she's going to turn on us and attack us, and that basically we are doing everything wrong. I'm hoping there is none of that sort of judgement here. I am new to owning a dog and just want some input. Thanks for having us here!
Welcome to the forum from myself and 14month old Mason. You sound like you are doing such a great job. Who told you that she is the right dog for your family? That she is going to turn and attack you? And that your doing everything wrong? Surly you don’t believe this? You are doing your best. It is hard at times and it will get easier. Be consistent and have fun
