Hi everyone. New lab owner here! We have a 15 wk old silver that we got 4 wks ago. She's a real sweetie and my family is in love but we're having a rough go of it. So far we've had a bout of gardia (gone now) and are now dealing with a uti which has made potty training all the more challenging. Anyone have any tips? Pulling my hair out with all the accidents she's having. We're on day 3 of of a 10 day antibiotic course but have yet to see any improvement. I'm not sure if rationing her water is smart when she's dealing with a uti but I'm really struggling. Suggestions?

Hi Jo, welcome to the forum! It's great to have you here :)

What a start you're having together! I'm not an expert (hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon) but I'd definitely give my vet a quick call if I didn't think antibiotics were making any difference after three days. You can usually see improvement from antibiotics pretty rapidly (which is why so many people make the mistake of not finishing their course!)

Let us know how you get on! x

A very warm welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear you've got off to a rocky start with a few health problems.

Potty training can be a slow process, and the uti will be making it trickier, but you can find lots of tips and information here.

Let us know how she gets along, and I hope she's feeling better soon!
