    Hi
We have a chocolate lab bitch, nearly 12 weeks old now, called Breagh.
She's doing really well and we love her to bits (apart from when she's chewing my hand or eating dead mice/bird seed/ slugs etc...). She sits when asked and comes back/after me most of the time, she also loves to "fetch". It's great to see how friendly she is with strangers of all shapes & sizes but she hasn't met other dogs yet; hopefully puppy classes later in the year will help.
Our last dog was an old lab/collie cross so it's been a bit of a shock to the system to go back to a puppy! I've found this and its related sites really useful - waiting on my copy of The Right Start to arrive.
I was going to post a photo but can't quite work out how... it's an age thing! She looks very much like Pippa's Rachael but the eyes are different. She's quite chunky but hails from mostly working stock.
    Good to meet you all!

Hello Kitty and welcome to you and to your little one too , she sounds delightful :) I struggle with photos too, so you arent on your own !
Just a little bit of advice re meeting other dogs , I dont want to come over all bossy boots but its is generally acknowledged that there is a little window of oportunity , the very best time for pups to meet and become at ease with other dogs , this is up until about 3-4 months of age so really, if there were any chance you could take Breagh to maybe a local park or well used walk so that she can become used to the sight and smells of other dogs, it would really help with her socialisation . it sounds like she is coming along really well , I love their eagerness to please at this age :)

    Hi Kate
Thanks for that; I have heard this elsewhere so will try to get her socialising ... her jags are completed now so we can let her mix more. We do take her shopping etc with us; basically she goes wherever we go, but we live in the wilds of Galloway so can go some way before finding other folk and dogs!

Taking her shopping is great Kitty , all the sights and sounds will broaden her horizons and make sure she doesnt become nervous :)

Hello Kitty. Welcome from me too. Just looked at the picture of Breagh. She's very pretty.

    Re: Hello

Further to Kateincornwall's suggestions, we had a busy weekend taking Breagh out & about. She took part in a photography competition at the country store; a great place to meet other dogsand a tricky slope/steps to negotiate.! Then we went on to shop on the local high street; loads of folk exclaiming over her and making a fuss, plus traffic, icluding heavy tractors/lorries/motorbikes etc to see.
Yesterday we took her to the beach for the first time - she had a great time and again met other folk and their dogs. Breagh seems to be very happy to meet people of all shapes, sizes and ages and also fine with other dogs (so far); fortunately the other dogs have been happy to meet her, too!

    Drier?

I've just put in a post for a gate. The instructions on the post-fix cement bag said "Dig the hole then fill with water". Just dug the hole and it self filled with water. ::)

It's a good job Labs are waterproof.

We actually saw a strange shiny thing in the sky on Sunday morning, but it rained again in the afternoon :( Our "garden" is a jungle of giant-slugs and weeds. A puppy could go out the back door and never be seen again ;)
