    Hi!

13 week old lab pup... with us 1 week. She’s been doing really well with potty training - going to door to be let out and a few days with no accidents at all. Today, different story. She’s gone outside for 25 minutes, then peed directly when we came inside. I took her out and gave a treat when she peed. Then back inside, 10 minutes later pee on the carpet. Again outside, and she wouldn’t go there. Then now, 25 min later, playing with our older lab and she peed again. On the carpet.

    What is going on?

    Hi @Labmom21818

    See the vet about wheezing.

When your puppy goes outside, have her on a house line. Stand in the one spot. Don't come inside until she has urinated. When she finishes urinating say yes and give three treats. Keep going back to the same spot. Don't play. Just wait. She will learn quickly if you are consistent.

What Michael says. Also, do make sure you are cleaning the carpet thoroughly with either a product from the petshop which is designed to clean up dog pee/poop or with biological laundry detergent and some water. (If you are in the US, this is the only type of detergent you will have, as for some reason the US doesn't seem to have bio and non-bio!)

Carpets obviously hold a lot of scent. Dogs have incredible noses and can smell things which you might think you've cleaned up. If the carpet keeps smelling like a toilet place, she will keep going there.

The carpet preference also tells you that she likes to go on something absorbent - so when you are taking her outdoors, don't take her to tarmac or paving, you need to find grass or dirt or something that is going to be absorbent in the same way as the carpet...
