Hello I'm new to the site,
We have a beautiful boy murdo aged 11 weeks. We have had him since 8 weeks, recently he has become very aggressive towards me. I kno he is just a pup but it's really upsetting to me. He is not like this with my husband. Recently he has started really snarling and barking at me and biting me :( I love him to bits and he's not always like this, I just wonder why he is doing it only to me?
At the moment I can just about handle him but he's about 11kg so going to b a big boy, I'm scared I won't b able to handle him when he gets older. Advice truly welcome

Hi Julie and welcome to the forum ;D

The snarling and growling, biting and nipping that comes from a small puppy can be truly shocking. But it is very normal and almost never at this age, a sign of aggression.

Your puppy is trying to engage you in a game, one that is played according to his rules!

Puppies do this more to people that they think are likely to respond, and this often includes children, and any adults that play with them in an lively or upbeat way.

Taking a step back and being more calm and even a little 'aloof' with your puppy will help to reduce his excitement levels.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

This phase is quite challenging, but it does pass, so hang on in there!

    Hi and welcome Julie,

We've all been there and it isn't something you particularly hear or read about before getting a dog. I thought we'd got a labrador/piranah cross for a while there.

Great advise on this site. It will get better and then you'll be really missing that gorgeous tiny puppy...they grow up so very quickly.

Welcome, and dont worry about the nipping! It really does calm right down, and before you know it you have a lovely Labrador who can carry eggs in his/her mouth without breaking them! (If he's not hungry, of course... ;) )

Aww thanks everyone, so great to hear he's not the devil incarnate! Ha!! Still can't seem to upload a pic of my gorgeous boy!
Another couple of questions just whilst I'm here (sorry) has any one else's puppy had droopy lower eyelids? It makes murdo look so sad and cute they aren't bothering him and vet says it will prob rectify itself without treatment, just wondered how common this was??
Last question, murdos adult coat is already comming through and he's only 11 weeks, again the vet told me this is unusual as it normally starts to come in at 6months, but nothing to worry about ( but I'm afraid I'm like a neurotic mother and can't help but worry)
    Any replies greatly appreciated :)

Re the eyelids , my boy Sam ( now almost 2 ) also had rather lose skin round his eyes , we were advised to wait which I`m glad we did because it was just a case of waiting for his head to grow into his skin ( hope that makes sense !) He is now almost grown up and no saggy skin at all :)

    Re: Help

Digby also had quite saggy lower eyelids when younger. Fine now. He may have just "grown into" his skin. However, he did get 3 eye infections over a fairly short period and it turned out it was the scented candles I was using that were irritating his eyes. When I stopped using them the sore eyes stopped and his baggy eyelids disappeared too. So possibly connected to that. Vet told me that any chemically scented thing e.g. air fresheners etc can easily irritate animals eyes.
