Hi there! This is Lisa from Canada who is the new "mom" of a 9 month old chocolate lab/Newfie cross. Although to look at him I don't see a lot of Newfie that's for sure. He comes to us via my son's girlfriend, who wanted a dog but the cute puppy grew into a boisterous teenager. We were puppy sitting for her as she and her family are gone for a month's vacation and girlfriend was informed by her mom two weeks into the vacay that she was not having the dog back. So Simba now has a new pack! I am not new to dogs, but am new to Labs. My previous furry companions were Border Collies - my lovely Jet just passed on in November and we were thinking about getting a new BC puppy in the fall. But God had other plans I guess and now we are proud owners of a big goof! So first time for me with a dog whom I have not raised as a puppy, first time with a Lab. He's been very good considering that I don't think he's had a whole lot of training, some of which has been counter-productive. He certainly doesn't "come" very well - although in looking around this site that seems to be a common problem. He's a sweet boy and quiet for the most part. He is stealing out hearts for sure! I would love to post a pic but having some trouble with that - any tips? I would like to have your opinions to see if you agree with me that my boy looks mostly Lab.
Re: Hi from a newbie A very warm welcome Lisa and your new fury friend (name please ) from us, me Helen, Hattie 5/12 and our rescue boy Charlie 2 1/2 years. You will get lots of great advice, support and fun on this forum, it has saved my sanity Helen x

Re: Hi from a newbie hi lisa and simba, welcome from me and jasper almost 6 month, i use photo bucket, just copy and paste , i am not much help my son set it up for me , good luck so looking forward to photos
Re: Hi from a newbie Hi Lisa, and welcome! Flickr is saying that the page you linked to is not found. Could it be that you have the photo set to 'private'? Pippa
Re: Hi from a newbie Welcome to the forums! I bet that your boy is gorgeous Labradors are, of course, really a Canadian breed so a Lab/Newfie cross sounds like the perfect combo. You will have to get a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and then you will have a full set. It's great that your new boy has landed on his feet with you
Re: Hi from a newbie Hi Lisa. Just joined myself what a friendly bunch and some great tips to help us along. Steve & boys
Re: Hi from a newbie Hello Lisa, Big welcome from me too (and Steve & the Boys!). 3 going on 4 black Lab Lady here. Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you crack the system. I use SmugMug and that seems to work fine.
Re: Hi from a newbie Yes, I do feel like my boy should have a maple leaf collar, or something! My photos were set to "private" (thanks, Pippa!) so I'm trying again.
Re: Hi from a newbie Well can't seem to figure this out, sorry everyone. I've done everything in the instructions but obviously it's not working. Sigh....off now to post a question on another board....
