Re: Hi from Mira & me
Thanks for all your welcomes! How does Dexter cope with the heat in Dubai? I guess he doesn't bother growing a winter coat!!
Sorry for slow reply Kirriegirl..I'm a bit slow on the forum this week! Last year he coped really well...but he was only 8-11 months so I wasn't walking him a lot and when I was it was 5 am ??? ;D with his second main walk at 6 pm....he's our first dog and there was lots of basic obedience skills we needed to work on which kept him busy and occupied throughout the day .we used to play in a paddling pool too ,all in all we managed.Ive been worried about this summer as he's a super fit, lean ,energetic athlete now So I've put some thought and preparation into the approaching heat!weve attended a basic agility course and I have ordered an agility set off amazon,(thankyou Helen.....I will reply to your PM eventually.....sorry :-[ and yours Barbara x) I've got a Flyball board and some non slip mats so I can try him with that in my hallway...I've been noting down some of the things that come up on the forum that folks have trained their dogs so I've got a few tricks to teach him.....and I can get him down to the beach ( illegally, dogs not allowed anywhere off lead on Dubai)as a very last resort we've got a pool in the back garden and if I feel he needs more I will get him in there. He'll still get a good hours walk each end of the day.We are lucky that for such a feisty, curious ,energetic youngster he is actually a very chilled dog in the house ......hope it stays this way! He doesn't moult a lot at all,his coat stays consistently the same all year round,I know other labs here that shed massively....Dexter always looks really neat and tidy,I don't mean that as a boast at all ,it puzzles me a bit to be honest but I'm not complaining ;D
