    Hello,

I'm a completly fresh member here, and just wanted to introduce my self :)

I'm from Norway and after several years of waiting I have finaly bought a labrador pup! I've bought a male puppy and he is now 4 weeks old, so i'm picking him up in about 4 weeks time :D

I hope I learn a lot on theese forums how to make the dogs life awesome!

My lab is black, and is breed from lines we call sporting / hunting lab, so he is a little thinner / smaller than the usual showroom lab. But i have no intend to take him to the showroom anyways. He will be more of a dog who will join me in trips at the mountain and woods and I also want to teach him to search chanterelle.

    I absolutely can't wait!

This is the mother : Faks Åska

And this is the father : Copperbirch Blackfoot

Both mother and father are from copperbirch breed lines.

Sorry i don't have a pictures of the puppy yet, but it will come!

Welcome to the forum :) What a great idea to teach your dog to hunt mushrooms.

The parents are both very handsome and I'm sure your pup will grow up to be just the same.

Do you have a name chosen yet?

Now if your pup takes after his parents... gorgeous!

Welcome to the forum - it is good to see we are covering more and more of the globe! Enjoy preparing for your pup's arrival, and I hope you find lots of answers to any questions you might have. I joined last year when I collected my yellow girl (she is seven months now), and everyone has been very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Yes, i've heard that they are quite good at it actually. And I can use it as one sort of mental stimuli for the dog. I havn't chosen a name yet, actually i have no clue yet what i'm going to call him. ;D

Thank you Clare! I don't know if there's many Norwegians here, but atleast i'm representing now! :)

    Hi there!
    Welcome to the forum.
Mum and dad look great. Bet you are excited.
Mushroom foraging sounds pretty unique. At least it is unlikely to upset anyone ;D
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome, lovely to have someone on the forum from Norway which is a very beautiful country from photographs I have seen, would love to visit.

I look forward to hearing all about your new pup, unfortunately they grow up so fast! Puppyhood can be taxing as they are bundles of energy and teeth, but they usually improve from 6 months old and are then a delight.

Welcome to the forum. I am a great fan of Norway having worked as a mountaineering/skiing instructor in the Jotunheimen. I was always very envious meeting Norwegian skiers in the mountains who had trained Elk Hounds to carry their rucksacs!

Welcome! I think you're our first member from Norway. Certainly the first to be planning a mushroom-seeking dog!

So - names. How about Truffle? Or if it's a girl Chanterelle… Am sure we can come up with lots of good fungus names!

Hi there from Canada....I have never been to Norway but would love to go sometime, my hubby's grandparents emigrated from there, so we do have family there still.

Welcome to the forum, don't be afraid to ask questions - there are plenty of people here who are in the throes of puppyhood or have just come out of it. And plenty of articles on the main site about training, behaviour, etc. Not to mention Pippa's new book on puppies!

Congratulations on the new family member, can't wait to see pics!

    Re: Hi from Norway!

Thank you for the nice welcome messages everyone!

drjs@5 : Really excited to get the puppy :) Yeah, it's a little unique. Even though here i Norway i've seen that it's possible to join groups that train the dogs to do that spesific thing!

Stacia : Norway is a beautiful country even though it also has it's downsides. It's often referred as the best country to live in, but I think we have our share of problems like everyone else! You are most welcome to visit! :)

Morwenstow : Jotunheimen is a great place, have been there my self and walked in the limestone caves and glaciers! One of the top things to experience in Norway if one is having a vaccation there!

Karen : Truffle was not bad, but i think it's sounding better in english than it does in Norway, hehe. Poor boy, Chantarelle..

Lisa : Thank you! I think Canada is in many areas much like Norway, at least in nature! A lot of Norwegians sailed over during the bad times here :)

JulieT : Thank you! Pictures will come!

Hmm. I can't help to notice that there is mostly females her also. Being a guy that is perfectly fine! And yes, pictures of the puppy will come!

And that ducking thread was nice! Ducks are awesome creatures!
