I wondered if anyone had any suggestions, advice? Monty loves searching for tennis balls, he loves to chase them and retrieve them but his favourite thing to do is to go into the undergrowth, long grass, woodland etc. to find them, I have to distract him and then try and drop a ball somewhere he hasn't noticed. When I tell him to find he is incredibly focused (ignores other people, dogs even the ones that try to help him)! I sometimes use a dummy which he is equally happy to find but I wonder if there are any other "searching" games I could introduce. I am no dog trainer so nothing too technical! But exciting for him and more challenging. He is from a working background on both sides and I have built up his exercise gradually over several months and he is now very fit and keen to be doing rather than just walking.
Hi Amelie and Monty, welcome to the forum Monty sounds like a lot of fun! I'm not much of an expert on retrieving games other than the standard throw-it-and-wait-for-it-to-be-bought-back, but it sounds like you'd enjoy gundog training together.
