Hi all. New to the forum and wanting to introduce myself. I'm from Ireland but now living in Gozo, Malta. Adopted an adorable 3 month old rescue lab/springer mix puppy, who we named Harley, just over a week ago. He's our first ever pet, after raising 4 daughters I thought it would be easy lol but he's a proper little livewire who's biting is out of control.. The girls have him spoilt already and my hubby is a contractor working in the UK so its up to me to train him, so I'll be looking for any advice/info anyone can offer.
Hey Kelley, just wanted to say welcome, and good luck! You will find all the help and support you need to make it work here. Well done for rescuing a lovely puppy. Also, the biting will stop. There is no cure, just time! Love from Me & my 8 month old yellow boy, Rolo!
Hi Kelley, and welcome to the forum. Puppy biting is a common problem. When Holly was that age she was a biter. We stopped her by immediately going "Ouch" and stopping playing with her. She learned that biting meant no play, and the biting died off.
Ohhh my friend has a springador called Mila. She's absolutely gorgeous - and much better behaved than my lab. Here they are together - a proper little couple. Welcome to the forum
Hi and welcome from me and my two, Lucan 7yrs old and Ash 17wks. I had a Lab/Springer cross called Rosco many moons ago. He led a charmed life getting into many scrapes over his just short of 14 year life, once jumping the front garden fence right in front of a passing car! How it missed him I don't know! He was the most lovable rogue and a real comedian but also a great working gundog, I would love to have another like him.
Welcome to you from Mags, Tatze and Mollie from Manchester UK Tatze is my pet dog, a black Lab and she's four years old. Tatze means 'paw' in German. Mollie is my fourth Guide Dog puppy, a black Lab who is six months old.
Thank you for all the warm welcomes. Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been following advice and Harley seems to have stopped biting me as much but he's worse than ever with my 7 year old. He drew blood a few days ago biting her. Doesn't help that she panics now if he runs towards her, screams and hops up on tables or chairs to avoid him. He thinks she's playing but she's just so scared of him now. If he's lying down and quiet she's fine but as soon as he wants to play, she's terrified. I don't like constantly telling him no but i don't want her scared of him. Any advice?
I would use baby gates to keep them separated until both can be better trained. I would work just as hard on keeping your daughter sensible and calm as your pup when they are together.
Hi! I'm Sunny and I'm from New Jersey. I have a 15 week old black lab and a 2.5 year old, so I can somewhat relate to the kid + puppy thing. Welcome! I'm new, too . -Sunny

Hello and welcome to you from Fred, Annie and me here in the UK. Have you any photos of Harley for us?
