    Hi everyone,

We have a 3 year old black Lab who is generally good off the lead, except for when she sees sheep. My wife and I are keen hikers and spend quite a lot of time hiking in the Lake District, where there are lots of sheep! Has anyone had any success hiking with their dog on a long line?

A regular lead doesn't have the length to let the dog do any running or prevent her from yanking me about when we're scrambling and I don't think it's worth the risk to have her totally off when I know sheep are too distracting for her to recall!

Hi we always hike with Bruce on a 10-meter training lead, we hike in the Peak District but a lot of styes are not suitable for dogs and carrying a 30 kg dog over them is a nightmare I call his training lead a dog break just make sure you use a harness.

Thanks. I ended up getting a cani-cross/skijoring belt and attaching her to that on a longer lead (but not a long line). Keeps my hands free and forced me to work on her heeling, which has been no bad thing!
