Re: Hip Dysplasia Oh bless her... it's a big old bald patch, but that wound looks nice and neat. Hope the recovery goes well. Clare
Re: Hip Dysplasia Goodness, that scar looks like my hip replacement scar! What a brave little thing, a little trooper! Is she showing any pain, Shell? No more of the crying when trying to walk?
Re: Hip Dysplasia Oh bless her. What a clean looking scar. Tell her her fur will soon grow back. Bet you're over the moon to have her home.
Re: Hip Dysplasia What lovely news , they are so amazing , the speed in which they recover, bless her x
Re: Hip Dysplasia They are just the bravest ,very humbling how they cope with situations like this.really glad she is doing ok Shell, keep in touch and let us know her progress x
Re: Hip Dysplasia There's 2 more scars at the back and underneath but smaller. Karen she is certainly not showing any pain in fact she doesn't even seem to think there's anything wrong at all except for possibly being cold in bits! She is walking & trying to run around to play with jack with me running after both of them yelling and panicking. I'm giving her a half a painkiller a day but there's def no pain. We are not allowed out for any exercise yet so it will be interesting to see how she goes - until then it's more panicking on my part that she will hurt herself or loosen the screws. Thanks everyone for your support, physically its quite a struggle being on your own with 2 dogs - trying to keep one calm while doing everyday things like showering or cooking and of course poor jack can't get out either so he's quite unsettled hopefully it will pass soon & we can all get back to normal
Re: Hip Dysplasia I really do feel for you , I dont want to sound blase but take each day at a time and mark it off as another day over the hurdle x
Re: Hip Dysplasia Yes shell, all of us know that this is a really tough time, but you are on the upward part of the curve now now and are doing marvelously, take care x
Re: Hip Dysplasia For those who have an interest in statistics, the latest figures from BVA for hips are: 80,189 scored, range of 0-106 12.5 is the 15 year breed mean 9 is the 15 year median 11.0 is the 5 year breed mean 9 is the 5 year median The current figures for elbows are as follows and cover the last 15 years 11437 Labradors have had their Elbows graded. 9784 (85.5%) were graded 0, 1000 ( 8.7%) graded 1, 453( 4%) graded 2, 200 (1.9%) graded 3. I am not clever enough to draw the right conclusions but I guess without the previous figures it is difficult to say whether there has been an improvement? Roger
Re: Hip Dysplasia The stats for hips show that scores in the upper extreme of the range have become less common (or have become less extreme) between the last 15 years and the last 5 years That is good.
