Hollie had her first swimming adventure at the weeken, she was knee deep for ages not knowing what to do even when the ducks came to investigate. I had to throw a stone for her and she jumped in with glee swimming away.........Further away not responding to our calls, hubby was about to go in for her when she turned and came back Unfortunately the car park was closing so we had to go so she only got to swim the once But will be taking her back, should I worry about the water being so cold or am I just being overprotective! !!!!
Re: hollie's first swim Way to go, Hollie! Others know more than me, but I wouldn't worry too much about the temperature - labs seem to be built for it. We made a great discovery in 'Aquasorb' towels - we keep one in the car and can dry Pongo off incredibly quickly with it so he doesn't have to be wet for too long. They're on amazon and not expensive. We've got one in the house too for the end of muddy walks.
Re: hollie's first swim How lovely, bless her, found her water legs There is something that Labs can be prone to, due to their enthusiasm around water in all weathers, its known as Cold Tail and can be very painful indeed . As you would expect , its caused by very cold water affecting the tail , whereupon the tail droops , no real treatment apart from waiting for it to wear off and maybe painkillers . Your girl would be unlucky to suffer this, but I don't let my two into water once its freezing cold, but then I am a worrier :
Re: hollie's first swim Thanks rosie I've just ordered 2 of those and kate will defo keep an eye on that thanks
