Re: Holly's bad week Yes, Pongo seemed to force it down somehow....purely for medicinal reasons of course....
Re: Holly's bad week Just catching up after a few days away and it seems that there are several new cases of kennel cough!! We have an appointment tomorrow morning at the vets with Nellie as I'm almost 100% sure she has it too! I have never known so many dogs with Kennel cough before! Does anyone now why there has been a sharp increase of cases?
Re: Holly's bad week
I have never known so many dogs with Kennel cough before! Does anyone now why there has been a sharp increase of cases?
I wanted to ask - have any of the dogs that have it been vaccinated? I know it's not 100%...but my vet insisted that Charlie was vaccinated as the areas we walk in is a high density dog area. Just wondered what advice people have from their vets? Perhaps not to vaccinate in rural areas?
Re: Holly's bad week I was never advised to vaccinate Nellie. I never knew how rife it could be otherwise I may have had her vaccinated.
Re: Holly's bad week The vaccine protects against the worst version. There are lots of versions though. Obi got kennel cough despite the vaccine, but it wasn't a really bad kind and cleared up in a week (with ABs). Though he was initially coughing as if he was trying to expel all his insides, poor man. Glad Holly is feeling a bit better
Re: Holly's bad week Tell Pongo that Holly's a bit more lively today. She did a "wall of death" around the living room but had to stop for a cough after a few laps. The cough is definitely getting better.
Re: Holly's bad week So glad that Holly is feeling better! Benson is crashed out on the floor..feeling a bit sorry for himself..
Re: Holly's bad week Thought I would chip in that my vet doesn't think its worth getting the kennel cough vaccine unless your dog has other health problems (bit like the flu jag for us folks). Happily that is also the opinion of Sophie's kennel. Lilly is having an overnight stay next weekend
Re: Holly's bad week Our vet has the same opinion as Jac's, only gives Kennel Cough up the nose if they are going into kennels then of course it's a requirement. Hattie & Charlie have never had it x
