Our sweet, precious angel-winged Harley turns 6 months this coming Friday...

As I write this she is in her crate frantically eviscerating Baa-baa, her sheep toy. She is doing it with joy.
For the last week we have had a bouncy, bitey, bratty lab.

For the first time I asked her to sit and I could see her ask "why?"

She can now jump on the bed by herself, and she does. And then instantly loses her hearing. Apparently, our bed is some sort of alien soundproof zone for lab pups.

She climbed on the patio table and chewed all the tea light candles into little bits, which then melted onto the table because it was a hot day.

This is a tongue in cheek post. She is still a lovely, affectionate pup but she is now a 20kg, far more active baby. If this is adolescence we can definitely cope, without an issue but it is still a stronger minded, more independent pup. The biggest change in her is that she is wanting everything our oldest cat gets, and he wants everything she has. So if he lays on the bed, Harley stares at him until he moves and then she lays exactly where he was. Last night the cat stole one of her treats that we hid for her search game.

LOL , Oh I sooo recognise the "What is this sit you speak of ??" look !
Bella now 19 months old has that look down to a fine art , her selective hearing is somewhat of a challenge as well ...I so much as move the treat bag from its storage spot on the kitchen counter and she comes running in from outside like a shot , however if I shout her to come in I just get the "look " the "shrug" and off she wanders in the entirely opposite direction lol .
She has also lulled us into a false sense of security this past month , we had thought that she was finally getting to be trustworthy and she was quite content to go and lie in our conservatory on "her" sofa ( its not hers she has just claimed it as such ! ) and be left alone for longer than 5 minutes without us coming back to "insert name here " in pieces all over the floor , and we had all commented on how grown up she was getting .
To which end we bought her a kong wobbler yesterday , which she absolutely loves ...or so we thought .....
Yesterday with the weather being so good I left her in the back garden for 5 minutes with her brand new wobbler I had literally just bought her ....it kept her entertained ...chasing it around etc for over an hour .....
Today I leave her for 5 minutes in the back garden with a wobbler stuffed with treats to come back to find that she has quickly got bored of it and pulled up an entire row of ankle height plastic fencing that was around the borders of the garden and demolished it !

If you didnt laugh you would cry !

OH noooooooo. Finn is 6 months in about a week, and I was JUST feeling relieved that he has calmed down a touch and is being better behaved!

He stopped biting me so much and is much more affectionate - he has a personality now rather than a bitey tornado hahaha.

I'm waiting for the tide to turn though.........

Same with George! At just over 7 months and he's suddenly obsessed with smells (when outside), not as interested in his treats (even the good ones - and this is how we had been surviving!), is very into to stealing things and trying to get us to chase him around the house (we do not oblige), and has destroyed all his soft toys in the last week, the ones which up until now have lasted just fine.

I've read many times that this is the time to double-down on training, so we are back to clicker-ing on every walk, and practicing lots of easy training tasks that he knows well (because even these are hard right now).

We have been referring to him lately as 'the little terrorist' (despite the current social/political connotations of that word...).

Good luck to everyone else dealing with this stage!

Last night Harley stole one of the clickers and ran off with it...the irony is almost too much to handle

Luna loves clickers! If I'm getting things ready for a training session and turn my back, invariably she'll grab it and run off. Monster.
