Does anyone make homemade training treats? I am looking for something I could batch cook and store for use over the week. Something Jessie will think is nice and high value!

Hello treats I have made. Boil tub of chicken livers until cooked, use Just enough water. Allow to cool blend with 1or 2 eggs, stir in flour to make thick paste. Healthy option use wholemeal flour. Spread in baking tray so mix is approx half inch thick bake 45 mins @. 150 until firm. Allow to cool, cut up into treat size store in fridge. You can substitute 2 Tins of blended sardines instead of the liver.

There's also a thread in the Puppies section, last post made on Monday. Loads of suggestions in there. I made a batch of cooked liver on Wednesday and blerg it made the house smell awful, but Xena LOVES it.

I make quite a lot of home made treats and biscuits, most of my recipes came from the recipes section of the forum. Ripple loves all the tinned fish biscuits and also the turkey mince biscuits.

I don't think you have to be too precise when making dog treats, and it's something you can experiment with. As long as it has a tasty base, then whatever type of flour you choose to bind it together. Add an egg if you want them spongey, leave it out if not. Mix together until you have a thick paste. Bake until done. Voila, dog biscuits ;)

    Sardines and yoghurt? Why not?
Chicken mince and peanut butter? Hell yeah! :D

That's great. Thanks guys! I'm getting baking this week. I am a dreadful baker of human food, so fingers crossed dog treats work out better for me!

Just chipping in a bit late ...for Dexter's Birthday on Thursday I made some 'pup' cakes ....
In a bowl I put minced beef ,grated carrot and an egg...shaped it and pressed it into a muffn tin and pressed a mini chicken chipolata sausage and baked ....( as it was a Birthday I put a corned beef number 4 on top for decoration ) what didn't get used at his party I froze and I've been using as training treats since ....they crumble down into pretty good treat size...
