Homer is loving it out here. All his anxiety seems to have dissipated. There are still New Year fireworks and occasional avalanche rumbles to get through but snow ploughs and piste bashers the are no problem at all. We had such a lovely walk all the way down the main road of the town, something he wouldn't go anywhere near at home. He pays ball every morning in an area surrounded by 4/5 different ski lifts and cable cars all rumbling along with out a nervous look.
That's amazing news! Could it really be that Homer's noise phobias and anxiety are limited to London?
His anxiety got a lot worse with constant skip lorries and deliveries In our road. 7 houses had building works of some sort or another going on with some doubling the size of their Victorian terrace by digging massive basements and adding loft conversions.
Yesterday I was playing with him on the nursery slopes and a big piste basher came past us, only about 10m away. I had Homer at my side and was ready for him to bolt back home but once it had gone he wanted to play ball some more. There's a firework display with a torchlight descent this evening so we'll drive down the mountain to escape that. Luckily here they are much more controlled about fireworks with organised events rather than popping all over the place.
I listened to a podcast some time ago about a woman who suffered anxiety and feeling her abode was haunted when she was at home. Ended up being a gas leak—carbon monoxide poisoning brought on these feelings of dread. I know it seems very much left of centre, but... could you have a gas leak at home that is interfering with Homer? Or some other noxious gas that you are unaware of? Podcast link: https://www.ted.com/talks/carrie_poppy_a_scientific_approach_to_the_paranormal/transcript Anyway, so great to see Homer enjoying his snow holiday!
Oh I didn't know that about Carrie Poppy's history! How interesting. I listen to her ONRAC podcast and think she's great. Presumably Jes and her husband would also have symptoms if there was a gas leak? It's a long shot but an interesting theory.
I certainly wouldn't rule it out and something we could investigate. Or we simply pack in city life for good!
I actually don’t know her podcast. This was simply a TED talk that was in my random list. You’d think that everyone would be affected, yes. But Homer might be more sensitive. Or spend more time at home. Or it simply might not be the reason at all... was just a thought that came to mind given his different reaction to noise now.
There was quite a bit of snow here last night so hubby and I had his Sileo medication ready for when the Avalanche bombs started going off. So far there have been a few. Homer didn't even blink!
Here's his reaction. Hubby does have the radio on, but still no response. Yes, I have checked he's still breathing and my dog not been swapped overnight.
