For the first time in 3 3/4 year Homer was reluctant to eat his dinner this evening. He did manage to finish it all but kept on looking at me. Dinner is followed by a carrot which he just carried around. I took him fir a walk around the block 3/4 of the way round he wanted to turn up the road to go home not on to the park. A few normal pees but no poop. About 1/2 hour later he was sick on the living room carpet. He's not done this since he was a puppy. I gave him a small second dinner and he's been quite subdued. He has an icy cold nose. I guess he'll be sleeping with us tonight so we can keep an eye on him.
Hope he's feeling better soon. I think I would be tempted to leave him where he is and stay with him for the night to keep an eye on him rather than move him.
Hope he's feeling better in the morning. Make sure he keeps drinking little bits of water to keep him hydrated x
How long is it since he pooped? Food going backwards, vomit, might indicate obstruction. Does he have a temperature? I suppose it's Friday for you too? If he still seems poorly tomorrow is your Vet open on Saturday? Hope he is back to normal soon and you are left shaking your head at the mystery.
He was sick twice in the night, out came his small second dinner, a packet of moist food, then at 2 am pukey slime all over the upstairs carpet Plain rice and water for breakfast which hubby made for him but he said he wasn't very interested. He did no more than lift his head when I made my toast. But still managed to growl at the pigeons on the tree outside. No evening poop which is not uncommon but no morning one so far either. He was at his dog walkers yesterday (Friday now Saturday) so I'm not sure but will keep a close eye on him today. Vet is open until the afternoon and they have an out of hours service too.
If Juno is vomiting I starve her for at least 8 hours, preferably 12 and then offer a small meal of rice and fish as long as she hasn't been vomiting in that time. She may be spoilt but I will also take her water bowl to her for a drink every hour or so to make sure she is hydrated. It might be worth phoning the vet as they could suggest some if the sachets for Homer's water to help replace lost elements through vomiting. Poor boy, he does sound unwell but vomiting and stomach upsets are very tiring, you only have to think how you feel with an upset. Hoping he's better soon
Poor Homer he looks so sad Glad the rice is staying down. A few poorly dogs on the forum at the moment x
Maybe his problem was poop....think of how we feel when we haven't!!! And we can take something for it! Hope he feels better now that he has gone No. 2 and has kept his rice down.....please let us know how he is doing.
Was the poop normal, no straining? Did you take his temperature? Hope this latest signals the end, in more ways than one.
Arrgghhh, Juno too? Good wishes for you two as well. Baked sweet potato is my mainstay, since rice didn't work at all for us. In case you need something. Mainstay, hah, appropriate word now that I think of it.
