We decided to take Mabel blackberry picking tonight. There's a lovely little brook at the end of my road, as it had rained the water was just under mid calf. Mabel loves running and playing in there with floating toys. The best blackberries were hanging over the water so OH, myself and Mabel had a great 20 minutes. As we were walking towards home a couple called out "come and say hello doggy" as they patted their legs. She ran over soggy wet, as they screamed "go away you're all wet", at the same time as running away. Great game for a puppy. She didn't jump up, I called her she stopped and came straight back to me. Phew.
Well done Mabel!! Especially as they called her over!!!!! How confusing for her!!! Some people!!! I got shouted at by a woman yesterday as Bella wandered over ( they were walking next to us) she didn't jump or bark but the lady said I need to control my dog (in a public park ) as it's people like me who make her children scared of dogs????? One child was actually a baby in a pram and the other was a toddler who was perfectly fine walking along , even when she was picked up off the ground with the woman tutting loudly.!!!!! That conversation did not end well I can tell you, I was LIVID!!!!
Well dpne Mabel, great recall CDM not surprised you were livid and can think of a few choices words fir her idiotic behaviour. Still see breath and be proud of Bella being well mannered around children.
mabel is a star.I love to go paddling with my dogs. I live in a heavily peopled area and a lot of them a idiots. I just avoid them if i can. I was walking Rory on his lead and one little boy about 10 looked at me laughed then ran straight for us. We both jumped and the boys mum started tutting. We had words. I just can't help wondering why they think they can be so rude to us and why they think they are qualified to interfere in something they clearly have no knowledge of and why they can't control themselves or their kids.
sdegg couldn't agree more. We also live in a built up area, we are lucky the council insisted when the builders built our housing estate they kept the hedgerow and some green space.
I think I'd have been tempted to let her get them as muddy as she could....after all, they called her over.... it would have been a learning experience for them........ So glad we live in the middle of nowhere. We see more horses than cars on our road, and more rabbits than people. Pongo's walks are all off lead from our front door. (This does mean that he has very few manners when he does have to be on-lead - we've failed him in his training there! - but as he only sees his lead about once a week it isn't such a huge issue....)
Good girlie Mable , they deserved a good spraying for being so blinkin silly I take our two blackberry picking, but have to watch Sam for helping himself
Mabel didn't eat any blackberries probably the first time in her life she's turned her nose up at anything edible.
I haven't tried Juno with blackberries yet even though all our hedgerow is smothered with them. Hmm, come to think of it that's why I haven't tried her with them
Juno clearly has very good manners my dogs are yobs and just help themselves. I used to grow strawberries but something ate them before I got the chance a big black hairy slug I think?
