Poor Axel has had pure liquid diarrhea since this morning. No idea what it is from, but it has me worried. The vet said as long as he's happy and drinking and wanting food then just wait and see if he gets better over night. I just worry as I have no idea what could be causing this. He's rarely ever out of my sight, just a couple times during the day when he goes to the bathroom but he's quick with his business and comes back inside. I just don't know last time I experienced a dog with this bad of diarrhea was with Odie when he ate a mushroom in the yard and almost died within a day. So of course I'm thinking the worse.
Uh oh.. OH just reminded me that Axel ate about 10 'tassel strings' don't know what to call them, anyways, ate them off his blanket 4 days ago...
Might be a virus rather than something he's eaten my 3 got a terrible stomach bug about 2 years ago. It was very explosive. Just keep an eye out and if he gets worse call your vet again.
Gosh! Hope Axel is OK. Benson had the explosive diarrhoea yesterday, and vomited once. He is all good today though. I always think if they are still bright and breezy I don't worry too much, if it last more than 24 hours and was relentless I would talk to a vet
Oh no, poor Axel. Hopefully just a bug. Ella caught our gastro a few weeks ago and had runny bum and vomiting
Keep an eye out. As if you wouldn't. What are the Parvo cases like around you? Older and completely vaccinated dogs can get it, my puppy did. You can try pumpkin or sweet potato or metamucil but I like to let things run the course, feeling as long as it exits the body somehow a possible virus is leaving too. But it can't go on like that for too long.
Well just woke up to a squirt noise. Poor Axel, was lying down and exploded and came running over to me. I did think of parvo but I haven't heard of any cases and he's not throwing up or lethargic, no blood. He's drinking a lot more but I'm sure due to the fact he's exploding so much and dehydrated. If there was a blockage, he would be throwing up as well wouldn't he ? It's officially been 24 hours of brown water diarrhea, sorry so graphic but honestly there is no form to it whatsoever. I'll be phoning the vet again when they open and see what they suggest. Poor guy, I had to clean his bum for him because he was absolutely disgusted when he sniffed it. That was a first for me.
He has burped a few times this morning too which isn't typical for him, don't know if that means anything
Well, if he doesn't normally burp, and now is burping, I would consider that another symptom, and would want to have a chat with the vet. Of course, it could just be because he is drinking a lot of water and swallowing air. Hope the lad feels better soon x
Yes I'm thinking of asking for an X-ray when we go in for his appt in an hour. Just worried that the blanket bits are causing issues. But of course he did just have an X-ray three months ago. Don't know how much radiation is too much
The vet doesn't think he has a blockage. Axel doesn't have a fever which is good but he was given antibiotics as the vet thinks he has a virus of some sort. We got home and he had the squirts again. Just gave him a bit of food with his meds so hopefully by tonight he's feeling better. Sweet boy is very very sleepy. And my shag rug needs a super good cleaning
