I have a possibly silly question; I have a bottle of Urine Off from when my youngest was potty training, can I use that for cleaning up puppy puddles or does it need to be dog-specific stuff?

Also I have seen some sprays that say they encourage a dog to pee in a specific area- does this stuff actually work? I was planning to train Buffy to go by the bins eventually so it's not just all over the garden.

    Thank you! :)

There's probably very different smells from a dog but I don't know for sure. I would get a make that is for dogs maybe Simple Solution, which is formulated for carpets or the other option is for hard floors; I ended up getting both. Also, I haven't used the wee-here sprays. I think with vigilance and prompt action you will be able to manage very well without it. You just need to put your puppy where you want him/her to go and give lots of praise and gentle gentle encouragement to go in the right place.
So, not much help about your sprays

Simple Solution is great. It eradicates the "wee here" enzyme in puppy pee.

My husband bought some of the wee here spray only to watch as it was carried away by the wind. And it was very difficult not to say "I told you so".

Whatever cleaning spray you use you need to make sure it isn't ammonia based as that will only attract them to wee there.
As for the 'wee here' spray, I have never heard of it working for anyone. I never used it as Harley always wees at the back of the garden. We used to praise her every time she went - she automatically chose to go there

Thanks all, I won't waste my money on the 'wee here' spray then. I'll just keep taking her to the same spot and I'm sure it'll sink in eventually. :)

My only concern about encouraging to wee in the same spot is what happens when the scent becomes too strong on a hot summer day ......, unless of course the spot is rather more than a spot.

It's more of an 'area' really, there's a little space around the side of the house where we keep the bins. The plan was to let her go there and then hose it down when the garden is watered most evenings. It's easy for her to get to, no gates or anything, but it\'s away from where the children play.

Does this not sound like a good idea then? If anyone's got any other ideas then please let me know, I want to try and get it right :)

No that sounds fine I think as it's a reasonable size area and you're going to rinse it down daily, I was just a little concerned that the area could become a bit smelly when it's hot.

Twiglet's spending area is on our patio, I swill it down every wee with water mixed with a few squidges of Simple Solution out of a watering can - no smell at all. But it is hard work training them to use one place, but well worth it. I find a fence is needed.

    :)

    Here is ours -

Thank you for the tips! Only 6 days now until we pick her up and I'm trying to get everything ready in time.
