Hi there, It seems I come with only questions but no answers. Newton is now 4 1/2 month, and we live in Canada. Today was -25c feel s-35c (not fahrenheit ) Still, he has a humongous degree of energy. He dislikes the boots but accepts a coat.
Don't labs have 2 coats? re: cold -- if Newton is outside everyday temp changes from summer to winter are incremental and he should be find not wearing a coat. But -25C is too cold IMO even for humans. Here where I live it was -15C this morning so he wore snow booties and a buff for his ears. He didn't want to come inside, but I surely did. re: boots -- the hind paws seem to where they get cold. If Newton raises his hind leg (or even the front one) you'll know he needs protection.
Hi there, we're also in Canada. Buster is 8 months old , he loves the snow and doesn't seem the least bit bothered by the cold. This morning it was -18c, he happily rolled around in the snow and didn't want to come inside. I have a coat for him, but so far he won't tolerate it.
I think there paws can tolerate snow but not just too long. How bout using knitted shoes instead since that is softer and more comfy compared to rain boots / plastic ones.
Thanks for the answers and help! We went to the vet today, she said we should rather be worried about frostbites on the paws and make him wear shoes
