Loving my new Dyson Animal. After I vacuum I can look closely at the carpet and see no fur.

The Lycra Solution. Hmmmm. You go first, Morwenstow ;D

I vacuum once a week. What's all this thrice weekly business????? You guys are making me feel like a squalour-dwelling sloth.

I have a Dyson too and it does the job brilliantly. I am with you Rachael once a week hoover of the rugs for us too and a sweep here and there in between of the wooden floors. I am more than happy to be a squalour-dwelling sloth as life is too short and I find it helps not to look too closely ;D

Re: how do you cope ?

Having had friends staying for a couple of days with their Toller (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), I have decided that Labs and Spaniels shed very, very little hair in comparison and I'm not bothered by it.

Actually, it didn't bother me too much anyway. This house is fitted with plain, navy carpets - not the best colour with a yellow Lab - and they show every little mark and speck of dust. To keep them looking clean, they would need to be hovered every hour on the hour. Hence the fact I'll settle for them looking grubby.

    No lycra needed.

Oh lordy, navy carpets and a yellow Lab ;D Definitely a mind-based solution required there.

I once considered a Toller and now I'm glad I resisted the temptation.

    I use a red Henry.

It does help that the MudHut has dark grey/brown mix carpets which hide mud and workshop grime really well.

Chose it because it coped admirably with everything the parrots threw about - believe me parrots are the messiest of the messiest mess makers.. Even a whole walnut in its shell gets sucked up a treat. Seems to pick up the dog hairs well and would probably do an even better job if I could raise some enthusiasm for using it :)

I made a right fool of myself when first meeting a Toller .... fell about laughing refusing to admit that really was the name of the breed :-[

I expect that he claims to be too busy working for a salary to do it himself, or something of the sort ;)

We have people coming over for dinner tonight so this week the house will have been vacuumed twice. A personal record, perhaps. Actually, at the moment, with a new vacuum cleaner, it's almost enjoyable, but that won't last.

    2. It is a bit late now but people who dislike this trait buy Labradoodles as they shed less hair.

    Actually very interesting.....
To me observing It seems to be a scent thing which makes a makes a boy dog choose his place to pee but I'll try and work out which way Dexter faces when he actually completes the act!
I'll look even more nutty than I normally do !
    Thanks Rachael x

What if you live in Australia, does that mean he would face South. :)

Well this morning we got 2 spins ( that's quite quick, there's usually much more getting comfortable ::)) then head to the west and tail to the east.....so we aren't fitting into the theory very consistently ! ;D

It says in the article that it's only off-lead that counts!!! Was it an off-lead east/west alignment? Maybe something dramatic has happened to the Earth's magnetic field ;)
