How long should we keep Amy in "time out" if she won't stop biting or chewing the rug? Hubby says I don't leave her long enough. I just put her in kitchen for a few seconds. He says it needs to be ages so she learns. But I say she will just forget what she was doing before she was put away. Feeling sorry for myself again, and my rug!
Re: how long in "time out"? awh jade i feel for you, i only put jasper in the kitchen behind the baby gate for time out , for a one or two mins, she will get better, remind your self you are only weeks at the back of me.......things are getting better chin up x
Re: how long in "time out"? Half a minute or a couple of minutes is all you need Poor rug If it's any consolation, we had a group of very tame ducklings last year that came into the house and ate a section of carpet just near the kitchen. Well, they more unravelled it more than ate it, but the nett effect was the same. They did not respond to time-out at all.
Re: how long in "time out"? heheheh the forums are so helpful , .....the best part of the site you get the funny storeys along way
Re: how long in "time out"? I agree, couple of minutes, after that she will have forgotten why she's there And torture you with her forlorn look x
Re: how long in "time out"? Sometimes she knows what is going to happen and refuses to move, so I just shut her in that room. Great forum!
Re: how long in "time out"? Agree. Hardly any time at all. Other side of closed door (turn back to dog if a glass door). Count slowly to 10. Let dog back seemed to work for me.
Re: how long in "time out"? I'm not being funny - but it might save your sanity to roll up the rug and put it away for a few months, especially if it's an expensive one. It worked for me... :
Re: how long in "time out"? It has been suggested but its laminated floorings so slippy for her already. Rug not expensive and already ruined now, she had wee on it a few times too! :
