See how far the dog can carry the egg before temptation sets in and "crunch".

I just gave Charlie his first ever eggs - trying the egg test.

He sniffed it, took it, rolled it around his mouth for about 10 seconds. Then placed it carefully on the ground...and wacked it with his paw. It broke neatly and he scoffed the lot.

Amy was throwing hers in the lawn, cracked when it hit the path. Then it got licked to bits.

That's a good trick! Another good one is getting them to weave through your legs as you walk along (you need to take big steps...hence our name for this trick is 'Big Steps').

I stuck with the planned strategy - asked a woman with a cute mutt in the park (totally unrecognisable) what kind of pedigree was he? She looked very, very, pleased in telling me he was a cross breed - and then stood still while I clicker trained Charlie not jumping up on her (AND we weren't doing very well....). ;D ;D

It's a bit odd really, isn't it though? Why people would care so much...I'm surprised she didn't say "get yourself a good dog breed book, you silly girl". Still, worked like a dream...

A couple of evenings ago when I was out for an evening walk I met some new people that have just moved into our village, they had a large and somewhat over weight dog with them. I asked what breed she was, he looked in total disbelief at me "A Rhodesian Ridgeback", I am not kidding when I say she looked like a mongrel. No problem here with cross breeds or mongrels I love them all but the look on his face was priceless ;D I guess I am not getting an invite the the house warming party ;D He then went on to tell me that the only real exercise Bella gets is off lead chasing deer and rabbits and how she guards their toddler to the point she took a chunk out of a dogs leg that approached the buggy and he couldn't understand why the owner tracked him down (in their previous home) and presented him with a £400.00 vet bill that he refused to pay. I used to think......that dog is just ambling along with its owner, gosh I wish mine was like that. Everyone else can do it so why can't I?
Now I think......that dog is ACTUALLY at the end of its lead and its only little - if was sizes with Lilly the owner would have lost an arm.

Like lots of things in life, you only get out what effort you put in.

    I learned that here 8)
