That's exactly the same as Pongo was! He is now full grown and plateau'd out at 39kg (that's about 86 lbs). So Zac still has a way to go...
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? At 9 months and 1 week Juno weighed in at 23.5 kg or 52lbs. She also seems to have grown a couple of inches in as many weeks as well. Think she definitely takes after her parents who are both big dogs.
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Both of mine appear to be bottom of the pack now!! At nearly 34 weeks, Willow is 17.7kg and Shadow is 17.4kg. They're itty bitty!
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Well Mira is no longer a puppy (physically at least :) :'( I weighed her at the vet yesterday and she was wavering between 23.9 and 24.1kg. Wavering because she was desperate to go back to speak to another dog in the waiting room and was a bit fidgety. She had already been round him and all the staff dogs I think she was 24.5kg last year so she has got skinnier. She says she knew she was being half-starved and is going to report us to the Cruelty
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Maisie is 24 1/2 weeks old and weighs 13.8 kg or 30.4 lbs! She has really gotten much less skinny though, her chest has deepened SO MUCH and she's a lot sturdier than she used to be, she used to be a little stick body on stilts for legs!
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? we have a new english lab pup. Maggie. She was born Jan 9. 14 weeks. But only weighs 12.4 lbs. And her stools are not formed. And havent been since we got her. Her stool has no worms . The vet isnt concerned. (we live on an island in alaska and have ony one vet),, but I think she is skinny and concerned she isnt absorbing any nutrients She isnt too interested in eating. Now have her on Blue Buffalo puppy food. any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. thank you .. diane and maggie
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Hi Diane, Welcome to you and Maggie! You do have a little one on your hands. At 14 weeks, my girl was about 24 pounds. My little girl Bella - who is now nearly 7 months old (and about 46 pounds) had a bit of a rocky start too...with urinary issues and a very tender tummy. My first piece of advice is to try 24-48 hours of just boiled chicken and either cooked white rice or cooked oatmeal. fix it warm and sloppy - and offer it to her by hand if she isn't entirely interested. she's a tiny thing...so I would keep the portions down to a couple tablespoons per feeding of each and feed her at least 4 times a day. Give that a go for 24-48 hours and you should hopefully see her with well formed stool in this time frame. Once you have a nicely formed stool, you can start introducing a bit of kibble back into her diet VERY slowly.....like 10% for a day, 25% the next day, 40%, etc....making sure that the stools stay firm. It can be a very long process, to get her onto a good food, but worth it in the end. My Bella didn't do great on rice - it went straight through her, but cooked oatmeal was the ticket to success with her. Our vet also had me give her a probiotic - there are some good options out there, Purina has one called Forti-flora that my vet carries, but a well stocked pet store should have options too. Also popular in the US is adding cooked/canned pumpkin. It's full of vitamins, fiber, and helps to firm up stools too. I used it in part with my Bella as well. No matter the physical size of your puppy....she should have a light covering of muscle and fat over her ribs, and be full of energy and play. She should be bright eyed, with healthy pink gums, and have soft and shiny hair with no dandruff. If you want to post pictures of Maggie, we can give our opinions on how adorable she is... Let us know how it goes.
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Welcome Diane, welcome Maggie! Well, our Pongo is at the other end of the spectrum - at 15 months he's a giant dog (39kg, that's about 85lb!). Just to echo sunsetpines comment, when he had a poorly stomach we tried him on rice but he couldn't handle it.... but oatmeal was great. We just let it soak in warm water for a while then added cooked chicken meat. (He thought he'd died and gone to heaven.) It settled his stomach in a couple of days. Looking forward to seeing you on the forum!
Don't worry, it's not just you, it took me ages to figure out. There is advice on the 'technical' message board (click where it says 'The Labrador Forums' at the top of this page then choose the technical section). I chose to use Dropbox - if you sign up for a (free) dropbox account then you can put pictures into your Dropbox then copy a link into one of these messages. For example, here is a summer picture of Pongo! https://www.dropbox.com/s/hehvnhxa2dzch9y/1pongo in the flowers.jpg?dl=0
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Hi again Diane, You might ask your vet if they have a probiotic on hand....many do and give it routinely when they put a dog on antibiotics. Also check with your pet supply store and see if they have any. There are a million brands (slight exaggeration ;D ), but the basic idea is the same, it puts good bacteria and sometimes some fiber into their system to help stabilize the "gut flora". Brands I've seen down here in Idaho - Purina Nutri-flora, Gentle Digest, Natural Pet Digestive Enzymes - all are available either at the vet or the pet store. I try to go as all natural and homeopathic as possible with my dogs...and so my personal preference is Gastriplex by Thorne medical....I buy it through Amazon...it has both pre and probiotics, plus some herbs that help to settle and soothe the digestive track. Here is a direct link to the technical thread here on the board to help you with posting photos. http://www.thelabradorforum.com/index.php?topic=47.0 I use photobucket myself, it's a free service...this is my Bella at about 14 weeks... ;D
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? My pup Knox just turned 4 months old and is 51lbs. His parents were both large muscular dogs at over 100lbs. Is 51lbs on the heavy side for a 4 month old male pup? Thank you!
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? Hi, that is on the heavy side but it doesn't mean he is overweight necessarily - could just mean he is going to be a big boy . Boys are also usually heavier than girls! You can see in this thread there is huge variation between pups - Bella is 6 days younger than Maisie and you can see above she is about 10 lbs heavier than my girl! You could ask your vet at your next appointment or look to see if you can see the normal signs of a good weight for your pup… feel ribs, but not see them usually (maybe the last rib if they're turning you could see, but not more than that) and he should have a bit of a "tuck up" in his waist if you look at him from the side and maybe from above (a sort of "tapering"). You should post a picture of Knox! Just weighed my pup and she is 6 months old (tomorrow! Calendar months, not weeks wise) and she is 32.8 lbs (14.9 kg!)! She is a pretty slow grower at this point, I think she only put on 3 lbs in about … 3 weeks, so maybe 1 lb a week.
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? I am new to the forum and have not quite figured out how to post a pic!
Look in the technical section - there's information there on how to do it. Basically, you need to have it hosted elsewhere (flickr, dropbox, imgur, facebook etc) and then link to it from this forum.

She was one of the bigger pups even compared to the boys. Her mum was 26kg and dad 38kg so think she might be somewhere in between!
Re: How much does your puppy weigh? They stop growing upwards at about 10 months, and growth plates will then start to close and they will be fully closed by about a year (longer if a male dog is neutured). My intact dog then put on more muscle and his neck and shoulders filled out considerably, amounting to about another 2kgs (he is not over weight) over the next year or so - just from my observations, I don't think castrated male dogs do this to the same extent. I'd say he was completely done growing at two.
