Wow...I just did the weight calculator posted and Arnie is currently 12 weeks and 22lbs (10kg) and it claims he could be 95lbs (43kg) when fully grown....I am secretly thrilled as I love massive boy labs ...
Sorry to disappoint you, but this calculator doesn't work. Based on one of my puppy's weights, he would be 35Kg now. He's actually 24kg now and is carrying a little "extra".
Rusty's weight gain has slowed right down this last month: kg=kilogram / #=pounds 11 weeks = 7.2kg / 16# 12 weeks = 8.2kg / 18# 14 weeks = 9.75kg / 21.5# 15 weeks = 10.45kg / 23# height at this time was 17 inches. 16 weeks = 11.90kg / 26# 17 weeks = 12.80kg / 28# 18 weeks = 13.90kg / 30.6# height at this time was 18.5 inches. 19 weeks = 15.00kg/ 33# 20 weeks = 16.00kg / 35# 21 weeks = 16.90kg / 37# height at this time was 20 inches. 22 weeks = 17.80kg / 39# 23 weeks = 18.45kg / 40.6# 24 weeks = 19.60kg / 43# height at this time was 21 inches. 25 weeks = 20.65kg / 45.5# 26 weeks = 20.10kg / 44.3# 27 weeks = 20.25kg / 44.6# height at this time was 22 inches. 28 weeks = 20.95kg / 46# As you can see he has slowed right down and indeed even lost weight from 25 weeks to 26 weeks. He is a fox red working line Labrador. Does anyone think this is unusual and a cause for concern?
Never mind! I thought it seemed high....we know his Dad was 43 kilos and his mum about 32kilos....we will be happy wherever we end up! His certainly has the paws and the appetite of a future big guy!
We are raising our 6th Guide Dog Puppy, Chuck, and he's the biggest we've ever had - last Thursday he weighed a whopping 20.5kg, he was 16 weeks old on Friday! At 16 weeks old, our previous puppies were Volt at 15.2kg, Lennox at 13.8kg, Nimble at 16.6kg, Riggs at 15.9kg, and Jake at 16.5kg. And he's far from tubby - our pup's weight is carefully monitored by our Puppy Raising Supervisor. Chuck is also getting a joint supplement because of his build. Look at this gorgeous boy!
Just wanted to say what a useful thread this is, and thank you to the original poster. As a new puppy owner I do get a bit paranoid about my pup so it's great to see the huge variety of weights/sizes. Cooper was 4.5kg at 8 weeks and now 6.5kg at 10 weeks. I'm not going to worry any more!
Lady is 16 weeks old and weighs 12.5kg. I got her at 9 weeks old she was 7.5 kg. Hard to know if feeding going right...I don't think she has a stop button where food is concerned .
Just brought our pup home at 8 weeks and is approx 6.5lbs. He's like a teacup lab. His father is quite the large chonk and mum was slightly on the smaller side of avg. The litter at 4 week visit was all roughly same size so I would suspect they are all relatively close in weight, there was only one brother slightly larger than the rest of the litter. He looks healthy, playful and all else seems right aside from acclimating to a new home.
He is very beautiful. You were asking about how much to feed. I see you have a bowl of food in the back ground? Is that because he didn’t eat it? If so take it up and don’t offer again until the next meal time. The fact he isn’t hungry might mean he is getting too much at other times. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! Ah that was our first day with him and I followed some unclear instructions from the breeder about how much to feed I just didn’t understand them it was more my fault and I made his food up and it seemed like far too much and he kept going back too it. But now I am feeding him from the information I found on here And I take his bowl away as soon as he is finished and he doesn’t get it back until the next meal he eats all his food every meal there is never any left and we use some food for kongs and training he also has some fruit and veg
He is soooooo yummy! I can’t help but smell him all the time he smells so good We play with his paws too he loves it! They are so big and squishy
Our Puppy Raising Supervisor gave us a nice tip for the feeding/training combo when pups are still eating 3/4 times a day. She suggested we feed the pup their allotted breakfast measurement, and put the rest of the day's food into a tub - using this to treat and train with, and giving pup what ever is left for supper. That way you're not overfeeding while you're training.
