Hi I’m new too, my black lab puppy is just 10 weeks. Can I ask how much you feed yours? I’m pretty sure I’m neither starving her or plumping her up but it’s hard to tell and I find the guidelines confusing. Currently I’m giving her half a mug of royal canin four times a day. Our first week has been quite chaotic too. Sounds like your doing great so hold on in there, it is so tiring. When our storm gets over excited, I let her have some calm down time and it seems to work but then she sleeps a lot. Everyone’s different of course. Best of luck with yours.
Hi there, I've copied your post into a new thread as it has a separate question that might have otherwise been lost Following the manufacturers guidelines is a good starting point, but the best way to judge it from there is to look at your puppy as you have been doing. They all seem to need rather different amounts, and some brands do rather over estimate how much to give them (perhaps for obvious reasons!). You can find a rough guideline for different ages and more advice around quantities in this article too. Let us know how you guys get along
We feed our 11 week old Wellness dry large breed puppy food, and she gets just over 200g per day over four meals, plus treats. This follows the guidelines on the back of the bag and seems to be fine - sometimes she wolfs it all, sometimes she leaves a little. She is quite small and failed to put on weight the first week we had her due to diarrhoea and loss of appetite, but once we changed her food and got antibiotics and probiotics into her, she put on 1.5kg in a week and seems much happier.
