Our pups have always been allowed smoked bones for teething. Yesterday Tatze was chewing one. I heard an extra loud ‘crunch’ which I didn’t like. I took her to the vets yesterday and yes, she’s broken a back tooth and it will have to come out. We are off to the vets at 8am this morning. So I’m joining the chorus here - don’t give your dogs bones, smoked or otherwise, unless they are raw and small, like chicken wings. Tatze is not impressed right now with the ‘no breakfast’ injunction! .
Not impressed at all by that look on her face Hope all goes well at the Dentist. Definitely tooth fairy visit...
The vets were so kind and fitted her in even ‘tho their list was full. She went in happy and wagging, bless her. They are going to do a full check over, scan and bloods etc while she’s under, plus check her nails and clip them if needed. I asked if they’d clean her teeth while she was under but the vet said they are nice and clean and don’t need it - so she’s a good advert for tooth brushing with doggy toothpaste Thank goodness for insurance!
oh, poor Tatze! Good that her teeth are nice and clean....just scrubbed smoked bones of my treat list.
She’s back, she’s very woozy but all went well. When we got home she was very keen to get up on her chair even ‘tho her legs were wobbly, she’s fast asleep there now. She was a good girl at the vets and waited patiently for her turn. The tooth was broken to the bottom of the root She’s on soft food for two weeks but normal exercise. Bless her. .
