Hi I am new to the forum today, so sorry if not done this right. Wonder if anyone can help please. Have a lovely 7month old Labrador Ralph, whose biggest fault is his Barking. It seems as it is an attention Bark, have tried to ignore it but must admit this is very hard to do. Tried to distract him, but this only works for so long. Any advise welcome.
Hi and welcome, I don't have advice I'm afraid as my own pup is a barker but just wanted you to know your not alone. Hopefully someone will come along with some suggestions. When we take her to training class, every time she barks they take her out for a few mins which does work there, I tried at home doing the same but not with very much success. Good luck
Hi thanks for replying, I had the same with Ralph, that was where he first started barking at training. They told me to try and distract him, but it didnt last for long. I have also got a 7year year old Labrador Jazz, he is quite laid back, I think Ralph is trying to gain attention from him, sometimes Jazz warns him off, but if Ralph gets no response he starts at us. Am trying to ignore him, as they say this works, but dont want him annoying neighbours if it goes on to long. I wish you luck with your dog. I will persevere with trying to ignore him when barking. Good luck.
Hello and welcome to the forum! We've got a couple of resources which I hope might help you. First we've got a barking help center on our main site. And secondly, Pippa has written a training guide specifically about teaching a dog not to bark on The Happy Puppy Site. You can read that here (it doesn't go quite how you might expect!) Good luck and let us know how you get on!
