I took Willow out to do some training on her own this morning. I was short on time, so stayed local, on the road that is in front of our apartment building. There's no traffic on it at all, so it's perfectly safe - and should a vehicle come, I get plenty of warning. There is a corner of grass where a few neighbours let their dogs mooch around in the morning to do their business, including one of their best friends, a gorgeous little border collie pup called Cannelle (Cinnamon in French), who is the same age as my two. She is super submissive to my two, but adores playing with them, and sends them loopy by running around at mach 10. So, I had just started the training session with Willow, doing attention work and some basic behaviours when Cannelle ran up to us. Willow couldn't have looked at her with more disdain if she tried! Honestly, it was just like she was saying, "Can't you see I'm working?!" She was a complete star and continued to do the basic things I was asking her, while Cannelle tried to initiate play, and her owner was calling her from 50m away. There was no way she was going to go back, so I walked with Willow off-lead, to heel, back to her owner, with Cannelle jumping all over her, and then back away again. Haha, I felt so proud!!
