Before the puppy arrives I'm going to 'board' twice, which means looking after an older pup for the weekend/week/few days while the puppy walker is away. This is to get Tatze used to the comings and goings and to help her become a good Guide Dog 'sister'. The puppy will still arrive in late July. Exciting times! Photos will follow. But nothing will happen 'till June 15th when Zaba, Tatze's friend, goes home. His Mum is on holiday, so he's with us. Here's a photo from yesterday

I will be very interested to read about your experiences training a guide dog as my neighbour did this for many years and it was lovely to watch all the pups that she had grow into beautifully trained dogs and 9 out of the 10 she had went onto help their blind owners Beautiful photo too xx
Re: I have applied .... we passed! And here are the pups! My puppy walker supervisor came for the pre-placement visit today. It was 3 hours long and far more complicated than a pre-placement teaching practice visit in schools! I have the cutest little leather puppy collar imaginable Still no word about the baby pup, but I am boarding a 6 month old pup called Fifi (!) from 21st July for ten days. She is a Golden Retriever/Labrador cross and snow white in colour. Can't wait! ;D

Re: I have applied .... Fifi arrives tmorrow! Fifi, 7 month old Lab/Golden Retriever cross arrives at 11am tomorrow, she will be staying 'till the 30th July, her puppy walker is going on holiday. My husband is away (With my son, cycling from Heidelberg to Venice over the Alps, like you do : ) so my brother is coming to take Tatze out for a walk so that Fifi can meet me and get familiar with the spending area etc without distractions. Then he's coming back on phone call from me so that the Puppy Walking Supervisor can supervise their meeting. The camera is charged up and ready!
