Ok, so when we picked up Hollie the breeder seemed lovely, hollies mum and sister were absolutely adorable. The place was respectable, we looked at paper work for hips, eyes blah blah blah So they said 'we will send her kc reg documents' to us!!!!!!! And of course 3 weeks later they aren't here Where do we stand with this????? We don't really need them as we won't be breeding but that isn't the point. I've contacted the number with no reply and the advert said kc reg Thanks again Esther X
Re: I know, I know!! Oh dear, I really don't know, the only thing I can think of is maybe contact the Kennel Club. Meg isn't KC registered so I haven't a great deal of knowledge but good luck.
Re: I know, I know!! Are they nearby? Can you drop in? Phoning the breeder of our next pup has been hit and miss as he's out with his dogs a lot of the day. It may be they're just disorganised. If they're claiming KC accreditation I'd contact the KC if you get no joy.
Re: I know, I know!! Contact the KC, they will have a record of the pups if they are KC registered. When I went to pick up Bouncer, the breeder actualy gave me his KC form so I did the change of ownership stuff myself.
Re: I know, I know!! I would try contacting them again, and maybe send a letter if you have their address. Did you see the KC paperwork when you went to visit? If they are KC registered then the kennel club should have a record of them but you should have been given a transfer of ownership form for you to send off yourself. Perhaps the parents are KC registered but they decided against registering the puppies? It does cost money to do and maybe they decided against it? If that was the case then they should have let you know. But unless you're planning to show your dog or enter kennel club events it doesn't really matter if they are or aren't registered.
Re: I know, I know!! We were given ours when we picked Meg up. Technically we don't need them as will never breed or show from her. I did buy her 5 generation pedigree cert which is nice to be able to track her history. I think the point is you will have paid more for a dog with papers than you would have done without. Maybe ring the KC for advise as I guess they will have heard this scenario before . Good luck Emma.
Re: I know, I know!! Max our first lab was kc reg and we got the papers when we got him, we even got to choose his pedigree name out of the remaining ones she had left. We then registered the change in ownership. Jack and Barney are pedigrees but not KC reg, and were advertised as such, it doesn't bother us as we won't be breeding them. We were given a copy of Mum and Dad's kc certificates. I would def contact the KC as the ones we saw advertised at that were kc reg were more expensive, so you have probably paid more because of it. Did you get any paperwork at all? It should say on it kc reg if the advert did. Lou
Re: I know, I know!! You can look up the parents online on the KC website to check all is in order. If it is, they have just not got round to sending the docs maybe. Charlie chewed up and swallowed his KC papers when they came through...he got to the post before me that day.
Re: I know, I know!! Unfortunately from hearing other similar stories I would say that unless you are given the KC documents when you pick up your puppy you should smell a rat! There is no reason why a good breeder would not have all the KC documents change of ownership there waiting for you. Don't be surprised if you contact KC to be told that it isn't a registered litter! I really don't think there is much you can do apart from go round to the breeder and demand the documents. Like you said, if you are not planning on breeding or showing then it won't matter, but it's just very irritating for you as you thought you were buying a KC registered puppy. Chloe
Re: I know, I know!! Thanks for the replies, I think I've been scammed to be honest but Hollie is perfect in every way so will just have to suck it up, Xx
Re: I know, I know!! With the last 2 dogs I've owned I've received their KC papers shoved them in the drawer and never looked at them again! BUT if I was you I would contact the KC anyway just so they are aware of the situation and hopefully it might stop them scamming others (if they are KC registered)
Re: I know, I know!! Unfortunately it sounds a bit dodgy. I don't know about the UK but here in Oz a registered breeder cannot sell a litter of puppies without papers. They must also be microchipped.
Re: I know, I know!! It took a couple of months for my papers to come. I was slightly edgy but it all came good and I trusted the breeders. Have you spoken to them? I emailed, believing that to be a good record. Can you contact the KC?
