    Thanks for this information.
At least being aware of the 'at risk areas' and symptoms might save our own dogs from the terrible death that these other dogs have endured and the distress the owners have suffered.
I wondered if it might be useful for the symptoms information to have photo examples of what the lesions look like so that it might help the worriers, like me, from constantly bugging the vets with our concerns?

That's a really good idea Chloe, I'll see if I can get hold of an image.

    Wigan Vets4Pets
Unfortunately, we have had some bad news this morning. Our colleagues at a practice in Leigh have made us aware that they have treated seven suspected cases of Alabama Rot. One of these cases has now been diagnosed and confirmed by laboratory testing and they are awaiting results from two more patients. We are having a meeting with the other Wigan veterinary practices and Wigan Council next week, and we will keep you updated. In the meantime, we are recommending that you keep your dogs away from Lilford Park in Leigh. If anybody has any concerns regarding the health of their dog, please contact the surgery on 01942 824455.

I lost a patient to suspected Alabama Rot on Saturday :( owner didn't want post mortem so no chance of confirming. It went from leg wound, to a little under the weather and then multi organ failure and sepsis overnight. I work in Manchester.

Thank you for letting us know, a dog that had just moved to Cornwall that was being treated in Winchester sadly lost its battle with Alabama rot in the last couple of days too.

Very sad times and thoughts are with the owners.

Barbara, where did this dog pick up the Alabama Rot, do you know? Was that in Winchester or in Cornwall?

    It seems to be spreading.

Is this Jute (on facebook)? The dog was in Cornwall (Penzance) for 3 weeks before she was ill, but that doesn't mean that is where the dog picked it up.

There is an update (dated end of Jan) here: http://www.andersonmoores.com/vet/news

There have been six further confirmed cases of cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV) over the past few weeks (Hampshire, Greater London, Dorset, Berkshire, Kent and East Sussex). An additional case treated at Anderson Moores was considered highly likely to have had CRGV and fortunately survived, meaning that a definitive diagnosis was not made (since this requires post mortem testing).

The Forestry Commission are no longer hosting a table with the exact geographical location of cases. At this stage we do not know for certain if there is an environmental trigger for CRGV. Indeed, if there is an environmental trigger we do not know when, in relation to the development of clinical signs, this occurs (e.g. environmental exposure could occur one day, one week, or one month before clinical signs develop). Any information posted about geographical location may therefore not be that relevant given dogs are often walked in different areas. Updates and further information will continue to be posted on this webpage with the broad geographical location of cases.
