Hi all. Thanks for all the help so far.
I have new questions for you. Please advise. Tiff is my first dog for 25 years so I am very out of practice. She has come on in leaps and bounds and has been walking everywhere. Still a bit skittish but that's only to be expected. She is meeting many people and some dogs now and whilst she is ok with most people she is very frightened of other dogs. Both wagging her tail AND growling at them. I'm sure this is fear and not aggression. I know not to rush these things and will take it all slowly. What are my next steps to help her with this. ?

I have a similar problem but I have two!

Mine don't like strangers coming to near either.

It's taken time but we are getting there. My solution high value smelly treats. I use salmon treats. Let let tiff see the other dog coming attract her attention then stick smelly treat under nose. If she doesn't react to the other dog she gets the treat if she does she doesn't although you could do this gradually, slight reaction can get treat to begin with.

They idea is they associate the dog coming with treat. Now my two start nudging my hand when another dog comes into view.

Kikopup on you tube explains a similar method which probably make more sense than my explanation. The video is 'counter conditioning'

Good luck it does work I've got the proof ;)

The other thing I would suggest is to maybe walk her with someone else who has a calm dog ? The calming signals will definately help your Tiff , will give her the confidence she needs to accept the prescence of others, good luck :)
