Seriously..you couldn't make it up if you tried.. The day started badly...rushing around late, forgot cash, took wrong car..bad mistake. Got caught speeding, well I was late, never mind. Benson was sooo full of beans it was unreal. Bounce bounce bounceeeee!!!! Anyway, mid morning the dogs are put away in cars while we have a coffee break. This is a good time for the hoomans to mull over the day so far, and the dogs to process what they have learnt. After a few minutes a car alarm goes off..yup it is mine. No problem, I wander over to the car to sort it out. With a sigh I realise that Benson is no longer in the boot...he is sat on the drivers seat munching through a weeks worth of dogs treats! I had wedged a tupperware container in the passenger footwell. Oh but it gets worse, much worse. Benson has found my car keys, I had carelessly left in the car...and bl....dy locked himself in!! So picture the scene, a delighted Benson, munching through his way through the dog treats, slightly bemused by all the hoomans staring at him from the outside. Oh and my phone was in the car, so until @JulieT loaned me hers, the suggestion of "phone the AA" was a tad challenging. We didn't call the AA, as I had left a back window open a few inches, and hey...we had at least 2 engineers in the group! Various options suggested and tried. At one point someone attempted to click the door open with a beating stick..good idea..but didn't work. Plan B try and hook the car keys out... a bit of bent wire was offered, and SWMBO (with LOTS of verbal support..) gingerly edged the wire through the back window. The keys finally hooked to a chorus of "don't drop them!" I was more concerned that Benson might spot the keys disappearing past him and decide to grab them...luckily the WHOLE pack of venison sausage proved far more interesting! Suffice to say SWMBO saved the day...and Benson was rescued from the car, a very, very happy boy, well who wouldn't be after eating a weeks worth of treats for 3 dogs... Despite all that we did have fun in the scurry!
Well before and after...the video was taken on the last one. Benson was so hyper I thought it best he finish on a high...
It was absolutely hilarious. Look, sorry to break it to you - but no. Benson was completely and utterly normal apart from locking himself in the car of course, where he showed his true choccie style. You so need to meet Charlie on a good day....
It was hugely embarrassing! I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me at one point...you have arguably one of the best gundog trainers in the UK trying to hook my car keys out of a car window...whilst Benson I swear thought it was the best training session ever!
Haha that was so funny to read. Glad it all worked out in the end. Benson probably thought it was the best day ever! And he is so handsome.
Oh I'm so sorry for laughing. But it does cheer me up to know I'm not the only person to have these sort of disasters!
