Hi I just wanted to introduce myself Paula and our new 8 week old chocolate lab puppy Amber. We live in Buckinghamshire . I have just taken early retirement so for the first time for a number of years we are able to welcome a puppy into the household. I have enjoyed reading the Puppy book and have been reading posts on the forum for a few weeks now with huge interest and often amusement but now it is all for real!!!! The first challenge is the weather ( I didn't think through the timing of this obviously) . Amber is absolutely disgusted at being expected to go into the garden in the wind. Hope the picture works. https://www.dropbox.com/s/aojm3xt2w4te0op/image.png?dl=0
Re: Introduction from a newbie Hi Paula. Welcome to you and Amber from Holly and me. The picture works, and Amber looks adorable. Holly will go out in any weather. Our last Lab was a choccy and she really didn't like the rain. I wonder if it's a choccy thing?
Re: Introduction from a newbie Hi and welcome from me and Harley - 16 month old fox red lab I used to have to go into the garden with Harley when she was younger, especially if it was bad weather. I used to stand in the middle of the garden with treats to lure her out! Nowadays she doesn't seem to mind what the weather is like
Re: Introduction from a newbie Welcome from me and my two madcaps! I'm sure you'll have lots of questions in the coming days and weeks (and beyond!) and this is an excellent place to get friendly advice. Amber is gorgeous - you must be totally in love
Re: Introduction from a newbie Aw, what a sweetie! Welcome from me and Pongo in South Wales. Pongo hated the rain when he was little - I think because his full waterproof coat hadn't grown in yet. He is still not a big fan, but he knows he has to go out and brave it when necessary. The bad news is that he still expects me to go out with him.... :
Re: Introduction from a newbie What a cute little face. Hi from me and Molly. At least having a winter puppy, by the time summer comes she'll be old enough to go on days out with you.
Re: Introduction from a newbie Welcome from me and Bella - a 13 week milk chocolate girl....we're over in Idaho, USA.....so warm welcome from the states too!
Re: Introduction from a newbie A warm welcome Paula and Amber from us, Hattie 7 years and rescue boy Charlie 4 years. Amber is a real cutie!! x Helen
Re: Introduction from a newbie Heya, Welcome to the forum! I've only just joined and we hope to have a puppy June/July 2015! Your pup is gorgeous!! The weather has turned awful so I totally understand her, bless her!! I'm sure she'll get used to it as the days go on! Lucy x
Re: Introduction from a newbie Hi and welcome from Poppy and me. Better get used to being outside in all weathers, I'm sure Amber will soon develop the Labrador love of water and mud!!!
Re: Introduction from a newbie Hello to a fellow chocolate owner! The fun starts here!! It only seems 5 minutes since Winnie looked like that - she's 7 months old now. Don't worry - the love of anything wet and muddy will soon kick in and your house will never look the same again. Winnie's trail of destruction currently includes 1 slipper, 4 crate mats, 2 door stops and 1 sky remote control - beware!!
Re: Introduction from a newbie from a teeny tiny black 6 year old Lab known as The DivaDog and her human
Re: Introduction from a newbie Welcome to the forum from me and Sara in Canada. Sara was the same with rain, but at 5 months she's fine with it. But she won't go in the water. We were out for a walk a couple of weeks ago after a heavy rain. She ended up in a deep puddle up to her chest about 10 ft from the edge and froze, the 1 foot in the air thing. I wasn't sure how I was going to get her out. Eventually a handful of treats was enough. Pretty embarrassing( and funny)
Re: Introduction from a newbie Hi and welcome from me and Obi (who doesn't like the rain either but who will immerse himself in mid at any opportunity)
