    Hello All,

My boy is 8 months now, and seems to be insecure about the pool. He goes in by himself down to the second step with all 4 paws in but has launched himself fully in the water.

I have accompanied him, while holding him in the water, he paddled but quickly came back towards the steps.

Any tips on introducing him to the pool?

    Thanks

Let him get there in his own time. My two didn't go in water at all until they were nine months - when they fell in the River Thames, whoops! They were still a bit hesitant for a few months afterwards, but now I have more of an issue keeping them out :)

We got Baxter a small hard plastic pool, thought he'd like to cool down in it if it was warm. He's never been in it, just uses it as a big drinking bowl :D

It's probably just a question of familiarity. If he has any doggy friend that like swimming that can really help :)

You should never force your dog to swim, it is always best to teach them how to swim when they feel like swimming. The best time to teach them is when they are young and don't have any negative experience with water.:)
