I found this on Arnie today. I think it's a hot spot. Dermatitis. Can anyone confirm? <a href="http://s328.photobucket.com/user/S0...9-47C7-A8D1-7E205DA7BCDE_zpsrxujjg3o.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l324/S0matic/351798F7-AA39-47C7-A8D1-7E205DA7BCDE_zpsrxujjg3o.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 351798F7-AA39-47C7-A8D1-7E205DA7BCDE_zpsrxujjg3o.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s328.photobucket.com/user/S0...6-45A6-9BFF-757DE1F921DB_zpslsecwd2h.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l324/S0matic/5564D8B2-8A26-45A6-9BFF-757DE1F921DB_zpslsecwd2h.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 5564D8B2-8A26-45A6-9BFF-757DE1F921DB_zpslsecwd2h.jpg"/></a>
Sorry cant help you with what is the cause of the skin problem but it would be best to take Arnie to the vet to have it checked professionally.
My dogs' hotspots and/or grass allergy spots always looked a bit more wet - kind of goopy and weepy, but it's hard to tell from the photo. That looks more like it may have come from a bite as it seems kind of round. The good thing there is is that it's still small. If it were my dog, I'd get him to the vet and get some topical meds to nip it in the bud with before it gets larger. But then again, I used to take my dog to the vet at the drop of a pin, so others may have more level-headed replies for you. He's very handsome by the way!
Whereabouts on his body is this area? I concurr with the others, take him to the vet, it could be many things, from a spot to the worst scenario Alabama Rot.
It was hidden in his neck hair near his ear. It had a little scabby bit on it. It's really tiny and hard to locate
Doesn't look like a 'hot spot' but I agree with the others that it's best seen by the vet, to be on the safe side.
I think you are better to be safe than sorry. Members have varying experience of skin lesions being harmless to sinister. SO difficult to tell as a layperson. If its sinister, so much better to deal with it early.
yeah i am at work today, I will see what it looks like tonight when I get home. If its worse I will get him looked at by the vet.
From my experience it could be a patch left when a tick had dropped off. Found one on my old lab BJ and a fat 'full up' tick on the floor in front of him so I assumed that was the cause - it was on the side of his neck, almost under his ear and I'd missed it.
