Hi, I am waiting for my pup to be born in about 10 days. Reading loads and preparing loads. Got my kongs, my indoor crate, my car crate, brush, books (2 of Pippa's), vet bed. Have researched feeding, clickers, wolves or not wolves and loads more. Pippa makes it all look so easy doesn't she? Well, this is my first toe-dipping into a forum experience. Hello all.

    Hi Jane,

Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your pup :)

I have Harley who is 8 months old and she is a red fox lab.....my first ever dog, and my first time of being on a forum, and it love all of it :D everyone on here is lovely ;)

Have you read Pippa's new book? It tells you everything you would need to know (wish I had it before I got Harley)

Have you started thinking about names?

Hi Naya, I have the books! And all I do is think about names! I will have to wait to see my pup, I think, before I decide on a name; I am thinking it will all come together at the right time - hopefully, or she (or he) will end up with a long pedigree name, which could be tiresome in the park! Thanks for saying hello!

Hi from me and 3 month old Lola! Although if it was down to my 3 year old son she would have called 'Liam'

Can't wait to hear some puppy stories :D

 How funny! I recognise all of your names because I have been reading your posts lately. Actually, it's very welcoming - thanks! How will I pass the time for the 9-10 weeks? Will I remember thinking that my pup will NEVER arrive? When she/he arrives will I have time to look on the forums? Perhaps I had better stock up the larder.... The cats look so peaceful, oh dear! ???

Hi there, big welcome from me and 11 month old Merla. Yes, I think the next 9 weeks will go very slowly, but don't worry, after that there will be plenty that you never realised you needed to find out about, and lots more things to make a hole in your wallet! (Oh, and lots of lovely puppy snuggles :D. Did anyone mention yet, we'd like as many pictures as possible please ;D)

Hi and welcome to the forum from me and Obi :)

Hope the next 9 weeks flies by :)

As far as books go I'd also recommend "Reaching the Animal Mind" by Karen Pryor and "The Other End of the Leash" by Patricia McConnell :)

Thanks very much; I love reading and researching, and I haven't read either of those books yet. I have read quite a few, including: The Truth about Wolves and Dogs and The Dog Listener. I don't know if I am allowed to briefly review them, so I won't!

Morning! Thanks for the book suggestions. I try to find them on my Kindle and start with reading the free sample. Some books need to be hard copy for the lovely illustrations. Even reading books that have training philosophies that I don't agree with are good because it helps to refine my ideas; I suppose that if I feel uncomfortable with training methods then I will avoid them. However, I am a NOVICE and training comparisons are probably for a different forum.
It's great to hear everyone having fun with their dogs and after all that's the point isn't it?
    Happy Easter! 8)
