I have been working on some basic training with the pups, but trying to be careful not to overdo it as they are only 12 weeks old now. Barney is more receptive at the minute and will actually chase and retrieve his ball several times enthusiastically, but often is intercepted by Jack who steals the ball and takes it in their crate lol. We will work on this when there are two of us around to separate them.

They will now sit ready for their dinner dishes to be put down, and they know that Jack always sits on my right and Barney always sits on my left!

I have worked on this further to get them to sit and wait, and put a treat on the floor in front of me, and when I say go they run and eat it. Today we worked on them sitting, waiting while i moved to the other side of the room, crouched on the floor and then shouted 'come' - they did it everytime! I am so proud of them (and myself!)

I took a little video of their last go at it, so I can show OH when he gets in from work.

    Gorgeous :)

I'd work on Jack's sit separately so you get a fast response to just one cue. Also, when asking them to wait, just use one cue (don't keep repeating it). If you have to hold up your hand as you move away it probably means you've progressed a little fast for them. Mind you, they look really solid and not at all as if they are going to break before you call them. Try it with just one cue and no 'traffic cop' signals and they might surprise you :) If that doesn't work go back to a shorter distance and then extend more gradually :)

Thanks for the tips, haven't tried it without the hand signal, so i will do that. It was more the 'come' that we wanted to work on as we have got them to sit and wait for a treat on the floor, but they just stayed sat looking at it when we said 'go' lol! Have never known a lab do that!

Definitely a lovely recall and a great exercise to teach self control :)
