We took the boys to their first puppy class last night, well it was for older pups and dogs with no prior training. The location of it wasn't ideal, in an upstairs room in an business unit, with a metal staircase to climb, we had to carry them up and down which wasn't easy at 21kg each! In the waiting room they were like two nutters, dying to play with all the other dogs and kiss all the owners, but once in the room they soon settled. We did the basics, sit, down, stay and leave. We had mixed success as there was so much going on, some v excitable and vocal pups lol. But they really enjoyed it and so did we. For socialisation purposes alone it was worth going, but we learned some really good techniques to work on with them. Barney was a 'demo' dog at one point and was so well behaved! The others she used were a gorgeous choc lab at 19 months, v bouncy but so clever! And a golden retriever at 5 months who was also v clever, and he managed to get the treat when she was showing 'leave' All in all a great success, and we all came away happy and relaxed and not stressed to death like I'd feared. Can't wait for next week now Lou x
Re: Jack and Barney's first day at 'school' So glad it went well for you all Location not ideal, but sounds like Jack and Barney enjoyed themselves
