Morning everyone, just had to share this with you all. David took Charlie out for his 6 am walk this morning when Mark and Woody the Fox Red Labrador caught up with them. David suggested letting them both off lead, Charlie did his usual burn off across the field and back, Mark had to pick his jaw up off the ground as he couldn't believe the speed Charlie travels at dear Woody tried to keep up but didn't stand a chance Charlie played chase games with Woody and they just circled and played for a 100% off lead walk. Woody was shattered but Mark was delighted that they played so well together, David and I are fit to burst as this is the first dog Charlie has played with off lead and he was a complete star :'( It's strange because Charlie does not interact with Hattie in the same way when we are all out together, he might do the odd chase game with her but nothing like he did with Woody, Hattie tries really hard with Charlie to engage in play. However he does play with her indoors with toys etc. Does anyone have any ideas about this? :-\ So happy
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Thanks for starting my day with such SPLENDID news. Really chuffed for you.
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Fabulous Charlie!! ;D Can't answer your question though....might just be the novelty factor. Hattie is too familiar and not exciting enough?
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Yippee fantastic Helen. I love hearing about Charlie doing so well. Gold star and a big treat is deserved I think. ;D
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Aw that's fantastic. It's great to see labs hoolying together
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! He really has come a long way, I think you now understand him and vice versa.
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! How wonderful!!!! I'd say it's kinda the same as with us humans. I have some friends I like to have a drink with, some friends I go riding with, some friends I have for dinner, some I go walking with. Just a case of different people 'clicking' for different types of 'games' Dogs have different preferred play styles but also adapt their play to suit different dogs. I'd say it's a plus if Charlie can play differently with different dogs - he is not the sort of dog who always insists that everyone plays the one game, his way.
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Good boy Charlie!!! Some dogs press his "meh, I'd rather sniff" button and others press his "yeah! mad hoolie!" button. Just the way it is, I think. For normal dogs, like your Charlie.
Re: Jumping for Joy, Over the Moon, Whoo Hoo!!! Aww thanks so much everyone I appreciate your lovely comments We were thrilled that Charlie got to have a great play with Woody and at a grand old age of 16 months couldn't keep up with Charlie who is almost 4 years old ;D Your right Hattie has different reactions with different dogs, her best friend Harry she has a really mad hoolie with, yet Dasha, Saffie and all her other friends just walk along together so I am hoping it will be the same for Charlie xx
