    Hi,

We have allowed the little one, Vanilla (18 Weeks) to just jump up on our downstairs sofa when we are there. When we are not in we block it off. She does not sit and wait to be asked. We allowed her on there mainly in the early days through us lifting her as she was ill a lot and just needed some cuddles.
On the sofas upstairs we want to get her to Sit and ask before she can get on ie: invitation only. We are also looking at doing this for downstairs (but I think that will be hard as a habit has formed).

I think the upstairs sit should be OK, as I am thinking it is a new room etc. Anyone got any good idea on how to do the same for the downstairs without causing a lot of confusion all round? Given what she has been allowed to do so far.

I have read through the Jumping article on the Labrador Site, but that kind of only leans towards behaviour that has yet not occurred.

    Cheers,
    Sven

Jesse is 12 weeks tomorrow and he was allowed on the couch for his nap and cuddles. He figured that if we don't watch he can jump easy from the couch to my husband's recliner and steal things of his end table.
Right now he can't get up on the couch without help, I don't think it will be long before he won't need help.

Yes, just keep asking for the sit and it will become a habit. It will take many weeks to form, but once formed will last a lifetime.

My Tatze is allowed on one particular chair in the kitchen and my sofa in the lounge, none of the others. The pups are not allowed on any furniture. Making sure they never get on the sofa, not even on my knee or with their paws does the trick. The key is to be more persistent than they are - and that's VERY persistent lol!

    :)
