I have just emailed my local Police team with all of the details for their info. I was walking Chepi when 2 BIG Lurcher types came running at us from about 100 feet away, so they got up to quite a speed. They weren't smiling. They came at us like a little pack barking and jumping up at me - Chepi cowering. The owners paid no attention, well they looked on as I shouted for them to call their dogs. When I said I had been frightened one of the men said "shame" sarcastically. One of the women told me to get out of the park "love". They didn't care even with my broken ankle!!! They weren't youths either, aged between 40 and 60, 4 of them and just me. I was quite wobbly on my boot after that!

You poor thing - exactly the same thing happened to me while I was walking in Cornwall. I completely agree sighthounds approaching at speed, barking is not at all pleasant. Three, looking for all the world like predators in a a pack, proceeded to chase Charlie down, who was absolutely terrified.

After I rescued Charlie, I had a great deal to say to the owner who replied "they are only playing" and then "calm down". I didn't calm down for quite a while...

Oh Jane I am so sorry! What a horrible, horrible shock for you and Chepi.

I do see walking groups on a common where I live, a few like minded and friendly people who walk and chat with their dogs, think it works really well. Something to think about perhaps going forward.

I hope you are OK, please don't let these horrid people get to you, they are really just not worth it. I must admit to have met some extraordinary unpleasant people on some of our walks, used to get quite upset and now just feel sorry for them.

What an awful experience, and hope you and Chepi are recovering from the ordeal. I hope you get a positive response from the local police.

That's absolutely awful for you, hope you're both okay. There are some really horrible people about, on Friday I drove home in tears because of 2 really inconsiderate people with a springer spaniel. I've decided that in future I'm going to have to say something trouble is I don't like confrontation. Xx

Many sympathies Jane, it does happen I'm afraid. Try to remember that the vast majority of dog people you meet are kind and friendly, with nice dogs...

So sorry you had a bad experience. What you said is exactly right - those dogs and their humans are bullies.

How scary for you - and it's not nice to be ridiculed by people who should know better. I would have been fuming. I hope they get their comeuppance one day.
