Hi all, we have a 4 month old red fox lab. He’s growing up fast with all the usual behaviours which we love him for. He’s very receptive to training (mainly before it involves food) but one thing I’m stuck on is keeping his attention whilst out on walks. He’s very good on and off the lead, but he will bolt to meet another dog if off of the lead, then after he’s greeted them will rush back. (I resist calling him when he rushes off) I’m putting him back on the lead when we see other dogs, but he will strain on the lead. He’s young and likes to meet new dogs which is a plus, I just want to prevent the mindless bolt. I feel the same behaviour will continue with sheep etc. Thoughts welcome.

Until you have a rock solid recall, you should keep your puppy on a lead or long line.
