Re: Keeping her weight steady - aaargh! She is lovely David. And remember muscle weighs heavier than fat!! jac
Re: Keeping her weight steady - aaargh! Hi Lynne, I hardly ever weigh my dogs, only if I need a very specific weight for medication. Weight can be very misleading, and as Jac has pointed out, muscle is heavier than fat, so a very fit dog may weigh more than an overweight dog of the same height. You really do need to go by the look and feel of the dog. This article may be a helpful guideline. It is quite unusual for a dog to be too thin, and most dogs nowadays could stand to lose a few pounds. If you are worried that Jasper might be too thin, or too fat, your vet should be able to put your mind at rest at Jasper's check up, but if he has a waist, his backbone is well covered and you can 'just' feel his ribs, he is probably ok (Jasper that is, not your vet!). ;D Pippa
Re: Keeping her weight steady - aaargh! thank you pippa, have been taking jasper for monthly weigh ins, from being 8 week old, we go for the flee and worm treatment, the vet did estimate he would grow to be 25 kilo by the time he was 6 month, never having a dog before i have not got a clue regarding weight, i can just about feel his ribs, i think he is a fatty, will start to watch his weight, will keep you up dated on his progress, thank you pippa for taking the time to reply to me
